… And there’s speculation that they might have been even from Syria or Iran.
…
But that’s IMO rudiculous ! A Joint manouvers with a NATO-member and Syria or esp. Iran … I can’t think of it in the current situation – and IF – especially that it goes more or less unnoticed thru the international media.

Besides these interesting discussions around a possible AAM-fit (I hope to see some piuctures !!) … here are some nice 2010-Q-5’s !!

What PLAAF J-10 and J-11 units have to do with anything?
The reason the PAF was using A-5’s in a SECONDARY air defense role was due to the large amount of airspace the PAF has to cover and the threat from neighboring India.
China was never mentioned. …
Sorry … my foult ! I misunderstood Your question.
Deino 😮
Could You please give us a summary of “what’s planned” for these two issues ??
…
Hu … could anyone please add what “was” planned for the next issues ?
Deino
This is at least IMO only some kind of sable-rattling …. and if there are real tense, then more J-10 or J-11 regiments would be relocated. As such it realy doesn’t make any sense to put a short-legged IR-AAM onto an even older and never for that role developed type.
As far as I know in PLAAF-service the Q-5 usually don’t carry AAM’s .. and if the PL-5 was ever certified is not known.

Just one question !
In the latest Air International issue it is said that for the Indian demo/presentation a new camo-scheme was shown for the first time !
Does that mean the three tone splinter scheme was removed – and during that time these new stunnung pics were taken ? … and how does it look like now ??
Deino:confused:
Okay, thanks for the feedback.
So it appears that about 200 have been made so far. Powered by locally built Speys, with the WS10 a possible engine candidate if production continues for longer.
Production is probably ongoing. If the Airforce also decide to take the JH7 on, what would they replace?
Just give some time to prepare a bit of info … but so far the WS-10 is definitely no option for the JH-7/A … and besides the early models they are all powered by the WS-9.
At least for the moment … here’s the current Flounder-Orbat.

Ohh … but IMO that’s still a MiG-29 ! (SORRY)
Besides that it seems as if Eurojet has resigned … 🙁
“We respect the decision taken by the Price Negotiating Committee. However, we regret that the Committee has decided against the most capable & latest generation engine on offer for the LCA-Tejas. Together with our consortium partner companies and their respective governments we will carefully study the decision and its implications. We expect further details from Indian authorities and more information about the process leading to the announced selection. This decision does not affect our strong commitment to India. We will continue to explore true and trusted partnerships here which will support the development of a strong Indian aerospace and defence industry.”

IMO a sad decission … and a clear hint for the political “best” option F/A-18E/F !
Deino
Centre pic is a 35 NOT a 29
Really ??? What is it in Your opinion then ???
Deino
That would be a huge surpise (albeit vey wellcome !) …
BUT: The PLAAF doesn’t have MiG-29 🙁
and so I’m sceptical.
Deino
You’re welcome. That’s what we’re all here to do…learn new things.
Now here’s some food for thought….
I came across the following photo, but I don’t have any details about it other than it appears to be a Chinese Q-5 of some variation and the LGB in question is mounted on the inboard wing hardpoint where rocket pods are typically fitted.
If the aircraft is fitted with a pair of LGB’s on these locations, then room is left for the larger 200 US-gallon auaxiliary tanks which obviously increases range.
The question is though……can operational Q-5L’s carry LGB’s on these inner pylons?
To my knowledge China doesn’t have a 500-lb. class laser-guided bomb at the moment though the weapon in the photo certainly seems to fit that description.
What do you guys make of this particular photo?
Actually this is not a photo but a really brilliant CG made by “Songbird” and that LGB is at least IMO a hypothetical one hung under it, since the full CG shows a Q-5D and when it was done there were only rumours available about the intention to equip the Fantan with LGB’s.

Recently got a letter of explanation and talk about what’s coming in the next two issues. Also a renewal bill… Based on the past reputation, I decided to take a chance and pony up
Could You please give us a summary of “what’s planned” for these two issues ??
Even if I have to admit that I’ve given up, I’ve heard that issue 27 is already finished but again there are some issues on open payments/bills, which prevent the delivery so far; SAD ! 🙁
Deino
PS: However I have renewed my subscription … but only to payment when delivered !
Some new pictures !
Deino

Some of You guys are really funny !
The topic’s theme is a comparison – honestly as far is this possible with the few available information – of the Su-35 (for the x-th time: there is no BM !) and the J-11B one of the most secretive and controversial projects in China since years. And what are You doing ??
You are discussing SM … SM-2 … BM … MKK … MKI … !??
