O.k., agreed on most parts …. but I nevers said that real aircraft were needed to simulate deck-handling operations. I agree with You that here maybe better locations, cheaper facilities or so could be made … but anyway this beast looks not like a hoax !!

    At least a nice photo-shop work. 😀

It could hardly be missed on Google Earth, when real. 😉

You are joking !!?? Correct ?

When You take a look at that region at GE it hasn’t been updated since 2007 … so about year before the recent pictures were taken.

I agree with You in regard of the statics … but here I can’t agree:

… It does not make any sense to built something real for training purposes. ….

Why ?? … it could be a test-site to train the deck-crews in handling deck-operations … and additionally the island can be used as a radar test-site to check EM-interferences with other equipment (helis, airplanes, …).

As far I know there currently a similar facility under construction for UK CV-program.

Altogether I agree with You that there are some things strange with this site, maybe even unlogical … but I don’t think this is a hoax or a photoshop fake and these guys must have at least an idea for what thei built this beast.

Any solid proof other than the canted nose of J 10-B ? Then again we would only know once its operational or exported i guess.

I don’t know how reliable You take this one … seems to be a fire-control AESA radar (X-band) developed by the 607 Institute.

Pakistan did test and bought that system for years.
But we are all sure that Pakistan does not share military secrets with China. 😉

But to be fair … that deal with Sweden was only concluded several years AFTER the first flight and the PAF received it only last year.

So, to geve the impression that radar is in fact the Svedish one china might received via Pakistan is not correct.

I said some posts back that we would have to agree to disagree on this one and see what happens and also said a number of times that FC-20 = J10B was my personal opinion – I can’t see why that stance is so difficult to stomach. I’m not asking everyone one on the forum to agree with me, just don’t rubbish that view unless someone has hard facts to prove otherwise.

Agreed … but the please don’t “rubbish the view / opinions of others unless someone has hard facts to prove otherwise” too !

I think we could end that debate.

All your so called ‘facts’ amount to nothing more than your views based on assumptions and imagination. …

And Yours too … so come on guys, that discussion is getting dumb. 😡

The problem IMO is that both sides are not that far off to each other. You are correct, that statement made by the PAF CAS referes not to the current “vanilla” J-10A; he esp. pointed out additional capabilities and airframe modification …. in the end that “COULD” be the J-10B, but here is plawolf correct, he never said J-10B !!!

So everyone can assume that most likely with a very high propability the FC-20 is based on the J-10B’s modified airframe, it will most certenly feature improved avionics (at least over the current A-model) like the FLIR and radar, but – IMO 100% for sure – it won’t be the same version, the PLAAF will field.
It will have at least a slightly downgraded model of the radar – or a completely different one – as the PLAAF really won’t sell their best toy in the same configuration the operate it itself.

So, and now sit down, let us dring some cups of tee ….. and let us wait until the real FC-20 will apear in a few years; everything else is rudiculous.

Finally ! I was always left wondering as to why the Tejas didn’t get a HF designation when all other indigenous programs had one..

    Just look here ….

Deino , thats because Tejas is still a ADA baby and not officially IAF , its still a R&D project involving multiple agency and IAF.

Once it gets IOC which mean officially accepted in to the IAF as a fighter , it will get an official HF designation.

ofcourse this is what I think , but some one can correct me if I am wrong here.

… we had this discussion already one page before !

one more pic of the IN MiG-29KUBs. cross-posting from BRF. note the large auxillary fuel tanks. IMO, the best looking Fulcrum ever !

    MiG-29KUBs

Not really … I miss the sleeker lines of the single seater !

In the current Air International is an interesting article about India’s Jaguar force, the Darin I & II upgrades and the future prospects of a Darin III.

Also mentioned is a model shown of a configuration “Darin III Jaguar IS” during the last Aero India with a new conical nose + new radar.

Does anyone have a picture of that model ???

    Thanks in advance, Deino

I already asked myself, why not earlier ???

EXCLUSIVE: LCA To Receive “HF” Designation Next Year

At this time next year, India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, is near certain to receive a long due HF (“Hindustan Fighter”) designation just ahead of initial operational clearance (IOC), after which the ubiquitous “LCA” tag will be dropped and serve only as its type description. A senior Air Force officer told me recently that while designating the fighter was scarcely a priority at this juncture, a file was in motion containing possible HF designations based on various parameters. HAL has been periodically questioned about why the LCA doesn’t already have an HF tag. Stands to reason, actually. HAL’s under development intermediate jet trainer, Sitara, already has its final designation HJT-36 (Hindustan Jet Trainer), and HAL’s yet-t0-begin development ab-initio trainer already has the designation HTT-40 (Hindustan Turbo Trainer). So it isn’t really clear why the Tejas hasn’t received its rightful lineage designation, after all, it is India’s first fighter jet after the Marut of the sixties, which had its own venerable designation, HF-24.

So then, the HF-X Tejas, it shall be.
