Another possibility could be to open a new section of discussions or devide this one into two: One for the serious guys (and girls !), who want to discuss, learn and get informed … and another one as a “playground” for the “fan-boys”, where they can post their believe in the own or other one’s superiority, to bash on otherones types … and so on !

I think if there’s not a change in “politics” within this forum sooner or later … and better as soon as possible this forum will go down completely !

Read again, carefully. The AL-41F – as installed in the MiG 1.44 – and the AL-41F1A (as it is called here, 117S seems more common nowadays and is less liable to cause confusion) are two different engines. One is a completely new development that was eventually cancelled along with its intended airframe, while the other is an upgraded AL-31F with technology insertions pioneered by the former. Admittedly, the distinction isn’t made very clear in the article, but to say that it calls the AL-41F and the AL-41F1A the same engine would be a misrepresentation. The only obvious error is the claim that the Su-34 is powered by AL-41Fs which is not true as far as we know sofar (if anything, the Fullback will use 117S engines eventually but currently does not).

As echonine says, expect the final PAK-FA engine to be a clean-sheet-of-paper design without any immediate AL-31F heritage. I suspect it will be less powerful than the original AL-41F (probably more like the 117S) though, since they are apparently striving to build the PAK-FA slightly smaller than the massive Su-47/1.44. It is merely termed the “fifth-generation engine”, much in the same way as we don’t know the actual designation of the PAK-FA (which is not a designation but a project, like “Advanced Tactical Fighter”).
