LOL, SAC, the maker of J11B, a competitor of CAC? 😀

    Uppsss my bad – I simply too excited ! – … I meant “SOC” !!

YES, I agree with SAC …. As assumed by the psed images already posted, it is indeed a new AAM and these images reveal a lot of additional details as well they rise additional questions:
It’s alone remarkable, since this weapon – sometimes called PL-X-15 – was so far only seen under one J-11B operated by the Special Missile Test unit at Base 14, Dingxing AB.

My first estimation was that the new AAM is a PL-12-based design with new fins to allow internal storage, but following these images, I’m almost sure it is indeed a completele new design featuring a much wider diameter and is even longer than the PL-12.

As such it seems as if (even if only two missile racks now installed in one bay) the J-20 has actually four missile stations in each bay but – and if You look closely – there is one more attachment point for a possible additional third missiles between those two.

In my opinion the J-20 has the capability to carry two of this large PL-X-15 or two of the standard wide-fin PL-12 but most likely up to three missiles with cropped or folding fins like rumoured PL-12C.

    Hope for more,

It’s obviously here J-10B are in production (there are at least three a in row in the first picture) and we haven’t seen any photos of new J-10B taxiing. That means those pics are very recent ones, therefore, the covered prototype can’t be anything except 2003.

Agreed, but since here are still some severe critics all over around, who just want to take a smallest chance to diminish an Chinese event I wanted to be verrry careful.

If you know the chinese words appeared in the images, you know that how recent those images are is no longer a 1000 $ question

Hu … care to translate, PLEASE !!?? :applause:

Yes, that’s the 1000 $ question for today: When was that image taken ??

Anyway, for me this picture shows at least a J-20-look-alike fuselage at CAC and as such is the first image from the inside of CAC showing the J-20.

In consequence – since we don’t know the date this image was taken – it could be of the the already known J-20 prototypes sitting side by side with the also known J-10B prototypes … but it could also be a recent image showing the J-10B preserials and the J-20 prototype ‘2003’.

Two interesting images were posted today from the inside of CAC’s production facility: The one on top shows what looks very much like a J-20 fuselage and if it is a recent image it could be the next prototype ‘2003’. The second image below shows two J-10B together with an AL-31FN.

Again: it is not knbown how old that image is …

Just wanted to ask a quick question, is the Z-19 entering service with the PLA or is it an export only product ?

It is already in service with at least 3 regiments/brigades with most likely 12 aircraft each !

I, too, have something to thank you. You’re the first of the foreign users have given a link to my site. Thank you : Влюбленный:

You are wellcome … and like we say in Germany: “Ehre, wem Ehre gebührt” or “Credit where credit is due” or even better “Honour to whom honour is due” !

    Keep up Your excellent work.

Tutorial “Designing aircraft” in 1983. The calculation is made according to the method described here. Have a question?

Sorry Paraly if I made the mistake to ofend You. To admit You are surely one of the few here which seem to know their profession … as such – and like mack8 explained much better than me – I meant not You; sorry for that and even more THANKs a lot for Your posts here !

To admit; this is the new generation of aerodynamic-specialists, who only take a look of a plane and instantly know the weight, the role, the weapons and avionics fit and even more all its weakpoints.
They are even so clever that even more if You show them images that a certain type is “not larger than” or even “smaller than”, if You show them aerodynamic analysis written by the designer they can turn that all down these arguments since they are “ALL-KNOWING”.

I’m sure in a few years they will be all contracted all over the world due to they unbelieveable capabilities no true engineer or designer can match.

We are living in truely funny times …

    Anti-ship missiles , most probably .

    Cheers .

I hope that was only a sarcastic or ironic remark !

I have always thought this plane would be a Bomb Truck. Clearly they haven’t made a huge missile yet. But IMHO the bottom bays are for bombs and the side bays are for missiles. Think J-20 will have the 1st task as a Ground Attack plane with secondary air to air tasks. Looks too big to be a fighter. More like a bigger, longer bomb truck. But althought it’s tasks are Multi mission role tasks.

Come on, why on earth are there still a few around who think that bird is a long range anti-ship striker ???

The most likely AAM for the long bay are the standard PL-12 in a version with cropped fins or the new PL-13/15.
