With regard to what it was like flying them, the reliability or thoughts towards them by the pilots, wouldn’t Cotswold be the best person to ask?
Be nice to see one flying but then there are plenty of other things I’d like to see flying in British airspace that I doubt I’ll ever get to see either.
Many many thanks for the replies and hope the cutting was of interest.
Very sorry to hear of your loss but the leaflet looks like a fitting tribute, lovingly created with some very interesting photos.
Lovely set and a great find BSG

Which of the following TWO types of people get their prescriptions free of charge?
The Welsh, but no option for it.
Still only got 16/24 so guess I’ll pack my bags. Why couldn’t they have had some relevant questions like:
On a bank holiday you are likely to see
Battle of Britian
Any Bond film
Starwars
all of the above
At Christmas the soaps…
All have happy endings
Nothing happens
There is a major catastrophe with brimstone and fire

[QUOTE=J Really, does anyone believe that banning swastiks from model kits is goingto prevent the rise of neo-Nazis? [/QUOTE]
You know how stupid people can be, I bet there are people who genuinely do think that is the case!
Trouble with those sheets Dr is that I would then have to buy some more kits to make sure they are not all wasted, wonder if the other half would fall for that sort of logic? 🙂
I don’t know about Flugzeug Classic but I know Klassiker der Luftfhart do print them in photos and art.
Even though it is unlikely for a similar party to the Nazi to gain power there is a strong right wing movement in not only Europe but the States which has carried on exploiting the symbol for the same purposes and I can understand why the ban is still in place, even if it is a little flawed for some purposes.
Ian it will be hitting the mainland dont worry in a few weeks time! no doupt with less of an irish spin on it to be sure:diablo:

The logical thing would be to produce a second sheet but then would be easy to let a set slip through and get the company or importer in trouble.
Just means we have to order extra sheets. Interestingly magazines and books are sold in Germany which have the swastika on aircraft profiles and show historical accuracy.
Does this mean you’ll be repainting them bright red now? 🙂
As always a wealth of information and some lovely photos, thanks for the links. Always liked the G-VTOL scheme.
Since when has history ever been unbiased?
As for Red Tails it’s in the same vein as the old Victor and Commando comics, historically accurate to a point but also there to provide light entertainment.
The real problem is that too many people do not have sufficient historical awareness to differentiate between solid fact and fiction, hybrid films just confuse them even more. The recent case of people being genuinely astounded to find out that the Titanic was a real ship that actually went down, not just some jolly film by Cameron is a perfect example.
Would those who complain rather the film wasn’t made in the first place?
DCK has pretty much hit the nail on the head though.
