I had the impression that quite a lot were going to be left at Cottesmore where they last parked up.

Bearing in mind there are reports of soldiers being executed by their superiors for not firing on the protesters I’m not surprised, there are reports of two jets and two civilian choppers landing at Malta

Hint… aviation interested guys… take a look inside a model show, you will see WW2 again in accurate colour, researched down to the last rivet and strap, revetment and vehicle and have access to loads of aviation books as well. It doesnt have to be on a screen to add to your understanding of WW2 etc.

But that involves leaving the sofa!

The other day one of the discovery channels had a whole day of classic british aircraft, I annoyingly only found out rather late in the day, but at least I wasn’t in trouble with the other half.

On virgin media it’s around 212 and if no aviation there is normally some war thing. I’m sure there are listings somewhere but I normally just find it is a matter of luck.

I’m sure knowing Barry that it’ll be the nurses that come off worse! Little inky still likes the day she saw the big plane and the doggy, hope you’re better soon.

One thing that no one ever mentions (and it would mean a lifetime ban from here) is how un-environmentally friendly an airshow is, the carbon footprint of the aircraft and all those travelling to the show must be rather large.

Whilst wind isn’t always reliable, combine it with tidal generation and solar power and after the initial set up nothing needs to be done. Just a pity we can’t harness the rain, never need for electricity again!

And where is it written that electricity cannot be stored? Whilst the efficiency and technology are in their infancy, by just saying no it’s not good enough, lets scrap it would get us nowhere, that sort of attitude in the past would have meant no computers, no cars, no television…and no aviation industry or warbirds!

It is easy enough for anyone to cherry pick ‘facts’ from any random source that is published and then use it to back up their argument, the whole thing about efficiency is overlooking the running costs and fact that it is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than building another coal powered station and whilst many people don’t give a damn about the future as they won’t be around to enjoy it, I don’t want to have to try and explain to my daughter in 30 or 40 years time why we quite happily destroyed the world just to save a few quid and keep some miserable old gits happy.

If you read the original post properly mate you would see that Duxford has a 6mile clearance zone for airshows,

Trying to get 101 things done this morning and missed the clearance but still don’t see what the issue is, usual case of people just not wanting them in their back yard, I wouldn’t mind betting that it is a case of certain Heydon residents not wanting a turbine in their back yard and as usual misinformation and ignorance rules.

Can anyone tell me what noise levels they generate at say 100ft and 1000ft from the base of one?

Can someone explain exactly how sticking some more windmills up on the hill will affect an airshow where they can just fly round them, the airshows are always conducted during good visibility so apart from changing the view how can some bit windmills stop an airshow?

There are plenty of windmills in the area around the old RAF Upwood and they still fly gliders there.
