Looking at these photos, I can see why it was being called the platypus at one stage.
Does anybody have any idea how the performance of RAM Block 2 compares with the original RAM missile?
Apparently Australia has now expressed interest in purchasing up to 6 Growlers to go with the 24 Super Hornets they have on order.
Some people are really getting carried away with this “stealth”. without even knowing what would be offered to Norway.
Has it been established yet whether countries such as Norway, Australia etc.in the F-35 program will receive fully stealth aircraft such as the Americans will receive?
I noticed that when Australia ordered the F18-F, the order included, “24 aircraft, 48 engines”
Maybe the same applies here. You pay for the engines seperately?
What if the RAN or any other navy for that matter, decided to use an Austal trimarine as a normal frigate? Could they be stretched out to say 4’500 tonnes? My understanding that room is not an issue for VLS systems, they can hold a good number as it is.
After being sucked into the engine, I imagine the pelican would look like something you would spread on toast.
It would have been very interesting indeed if they had of included the F22 in their considerations. A comparison in its capability value against the F35 and SH would have made good reading. As it is there is a tremendous difference between Block 1 and Block 2 SH.
You are right Dan, I am a bit bored.
But what this post is about is how much would the RAAF lose if we purchased more Super Hornets at the expence of some F35’s in the future?
And would we really need to purchase another 24 to form a second squadron, like I see posted in various places?
I will try and show the 112m Incat design. Since this was done, Incat have increased the size of their workplace so that they can now handle ships of 150m. It would be interesting to see an 150m version of the 112m design.
Whoops. Cant download the images. Probably too big. Sorry.
This appears in todays The Australian.
“Three 6250-tonne destroyers will be built by the Australian Submarine Corporation at its South Australian Osborne yard for an estimated $6 billion. Canberra says it is keeping open its options for a fourth.”
Re the availability/unavailability of the F22 to the RAAF, now that Israel have shown an interest in acquiring the F22, the likelyhood of it becoming available for export may have increased. Anybody else have this feeling?
Scooter posted “(Note: JSF Partners will not get downgraded F-35’s)
What are you basing this on Scooter? It seems to be contrary to everything else I have read.
If the RAAF requires a better Air to AIR fighter than the Super Hornet, and the best (F22) is unavailable to us, then the Eurofighter which I believe is the next best in the Air Supremacy role, could be considered. We dont HAVe to by American, do we?
