Right now the new system on the Rafale is just a more capable MAWS, no new features, IIRC.
Being only two sensors on the tail means that the plane creates a large blind spot to the front and beneath the fighter.

Since the two cameras are located high on the tail, the plane blocks everything below the aircraft, like inbound SAMs and MANPADS.

Care to show a link that says that it has any capability above a standard IR MAWS? Just because it shows a picture does not mean anything as I can show you video of the F-22 MAWS yet it does not have any other function beyond MAWS.

PAWS-2: It is nowhere near DAS functionality. It only does missile launch and approach functions. No nav, no video, no ground fire, no arty, no BDA, no sync to SAR, no missile guidance, no wingman or other airborne tracking, etc .

Rafale is working on a system that only has 2 cameras on the tail which means HUGE blind-spots beneath the airframe and will likely have less visual acuity.

Operationally, no they have not happened and their VLO aspects are dubious at best.
I was speaking of the F-22’s use of radar without EVER letting the target know it’s coming. So many of the post-action interviews talk about the target not knowing the F-22’s is even in the area until it zooms past or the controller radios to say you are dead.
On the IRST issue, it does not work that way. IRST would have to be looking directly towards the launch aircraft at the moment of launch in order to see it. Maybe you are thinking about an IR MAWS, which most aircraft do not have and will become less relevant as newer and longer ranged missiles come online.
IIRC the larger exercise areas like Red Flag and Norther Edge do simulate the RWR and MAWS functionality of their respective aggressor planes.
I would depend on the actual intelligence gathered in the field.
Kind of like the stuff that keeps the Raptor wiping the floor with everything that it comes up against in Red Flag/Northern Edge/etc exercises.
