I almost paid £30 for this in 1993 at Popham Aerojumble and realised it was a ‘DUD’ 🙂

How did you know it was a dud? was the paint still wet on the swastica?

Just a prop from K5054 ? thats nothing I have the complete original K 5054,, its hidden away so dont ask to come and see it, dont be fooled by the red carpet looking background i put that in so no one can ID where its kept. I bought it off some bloke called Andy at a well known airojumble so I know its the real deal. Please dont send me begging or rude emails, its not for sale and I’m not letting anyone look at it. I hope that clears this debate up once and for all!

I once took a photo of a bunch of Starlings overflying ATC at St Mawgan, however, when developed the picture appeared to show a weather balloon.

    Baz

Baz thats not a balloon its the reflection of your Spitfire on fire after being hit by a much better Spitfires 20mm cannons all reflected off the clouds.

Its amazing what turns up, a while ago I was offered a complete MKI Giro gunsight, there is tons of this stuff hidden away in lofts and garages and spread all over the world, trouble is in most cases it only surfaces once in a lifetime:(.

Sell them on ebay as Spitfire would be a more accurate description than allot of stuff on there :diablo:

Thankyou I thought it was something early, I guess unlike most Bombers they had a 12v system?

    Wings

Having peeled the fibreglass off the wings they were completely shot, totally rotten. Using the original frame as a template have now made one with wood, used alloy on the leading edge. Managed to save the ailerons not fixed yet that’s why they resemble flaps at the moment.

As most are aware I am not known for my skills as an aircraft builder and so am quite pleased with the result. They are made in two sections and can be lifted and attached easily by two people. 🙂
