Billy Drake, Bill Green and Keith Lawrence have confirmed their attendance and there will be signing sessions. My Hurricane will be painted in the paint scheme of Bill Greens Battle of Britain Hurricane and the MKIX will be painted as PV303 the late war mount of Keith Lawrence. This being the case there should be some great photo opportunities. In addition if his diary is free a very famous author who regularly frequents this forum will be there!!!!!!! 🙂
I know airfix or corgi made a model of PV303 if anyone has a picture it will be a great help.
We are struggling a bit with RAF re enactors so if any of you have gear and want to spend a weekend in the Wartime RAF send me a message.

I am in no doubt that it will include aircraft weapons, whether replicas or deactivated. Building those replica Brownings will be illegal under the new law, as would selling them if you ever had to part with your collection. Write to your MP, write to ministers, protest.

Currently there are exceptions, film companies, re enactors etc can own replicas anyone can own a deact very strange logic ?

I spoke to my good mate Baz while he was in his sick bed, I offered him his local hospital or to fix him at my workshop. I had sharpened all my hand tools and got new blades and bits for the power tools and bought a 5 Lr tin of fibre glass. Having rushed down to Cornwall with the flat bed, trailer also attached so we could carry any bits which may have fallen off, imagine my surprise to find some idiot with a glorified transit and a blue flashing light on top?
I tried to explain that it was NOT the correct way to transport a Spitfire (man) somehow they wedged him in and took him away.
I have phoned him a few times now to see how the repairs were progressing only to find out a call from a landline costs 50p a minute and considerably more from a mobile. Having called him on my mobile while walking the dogs its seems that due to cuts friends and family are now paying for their loved ones treatment via mobile phone bills.
Personally I believe we could have carried out the repairs quicker and cheaper than the NHS I could also fitted a new engine and gas guns. We even had a new identity ” The Bionic Baz” however I am very pleased that they have fixed you up. See you when you get out mate.:D

Its something I am giving careful thought although its adds considerably to the transport costs as it can no longer be towed by a car and has to go on a lorry.
In addition the cost is quite scary although having done it once it wont be so hit and miss second time around. The radiator wont be such an issue with the Hurricane although im not sure if the frame would take it.
It was a relatively straightforward task to beef up the Spitfire frame, I would not want to ruin the integrity of the Hurricanes current airframe.
Its a much more difficult prospect if not impossible to strengthen without starting from scratch. The internal frame uses tubes roughly have the size of the original so the Jury is still out.

Not quite the last old chap!

BAPC72 currently in deep storage with the Jet Age Museum (see link)

    http://jetagemuseum.org/Hurricane.aspx

My father and a couple of volunteers put a heck of a lot of work into bringing this old film star back from the brink. We’re all looking forward to being able to show it off when the hangar finally starts to take shape!

Very nice cockpit detail as well does yours have the electtric motor to make the prop spin, in fact im very glad to see there are still some around.
Stripped off the fibreglass covering on the wings today its a pity they arent as well made as the rest of it.

Bill Green has just confirmed he intends to attend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Green_(Battle_of_Britain_pilot)

He will be signing for the public for a small charge that will be donated to a charity of his choice. 🙂
I am getting in contact with other airmen so hopefully a small number will be able to attend.
Will be painting our Hurricane as one he flew in the Battle so should be a great photo opportunity.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying and was just using that engine as an example because of its fame.

We’ve had our golden moment with ebay which were the first 2/3 years.

Perhaps Andy’s Aerojumbles will be the answer.

We just need to get out of this recession.

    Baz

Get off your soap box Bazil i heard you sold that gun i gave you for a cool £250,000 to your best mate ? :diablo: That said its probably a rubber check or did you get cash ?

An item is only worth what a person is willing to buy it for. If someone eventually buys the Jag stick top for that price then good luck to the bloke who sold it. That’s the anture of the beast on ebay, irrespective of the price he acquired it for, he’s not ripping anyone off, he’s being open with the price “Take it or leave it”

If you were selling a car or a house on the open market and were offered twice or three times the market price who on this forum wouldn’t sell?

Agree again, its an old chestnut but its a strange thing but when someone gets a real bargain and we have all heard the stories and can read regularly about them on this forum.
That is considered amazing luck, a coup. No one thinks of the seller who may have sold something for 100s less than it was worth.
Yet when something appears over priced its seen as some sort of crime.
I think its basic human natural, sellers want to get the most and buyers want to pay the least.
Dont get me wrong I often smile when I see a thing thats seriously over priced, I just think that sellers wasted his listing fee.
Its extremely nieve to blame sellers saying they are pushing up prices, its simply market forces supply and demand, it cannot be controlled and its how things work.
Personally I think ebay has got cheaper in real terms on the majority of aviation items as there is a much bigger supply than there used to be.
