It’s time to let the Battle rest now. We’ll probably lose the rest of the vets this year and it’s so long ago, the youth don’t care or know, and it should slide quietly away into the history books like Trafalgar and Crecy.

I presume you were taught a little of Roman history whilst at school, and a little about the medieval period perhaps? 70 years is not 2,000 years and I think, as others have suggested, the interest is there, the trick is to ignite that interest and convert it into a passion.

I am getting quite allot of good advise from various show organisers i have visited with the Spitfire. There is really not many shows in the South West so I am hoping it will be a success.
