Clearly the costs would be enormous. My concern is that the organisation thats proposing to make this film clearly does not appear to have anything close to the funding required and their proposals seem very vague. Is it therefore wise or honest to solicit funding from private individuals?
Perhaps you should invite them to next years Shoreham I am sure we will all be willing to buy shares in such a worthy and well planned project
Perhaps sales of “THE BOOK” will fund this film I understand pre sales are approaching £50,000,000 :diablo:
I am not aware of the legalitys surounding the promotion of films how ever surely there must be some accountability ie investors being aware of where their money is going, how much has been raised a detailed finacial plan. a time scale for filming etc etc. If you invest in such a project and it never happens do you get your money back?
Well they quote $80,000,000 to make the film this sounds seriously below what modern films cost. Their main source of funding seems to be by selling books, DVDs and a mobile display, to me the figures dont add up.
Fly for your life Stanford Tuck Biography no question.
Is there any history of them actually taking part in the Battle, what Squadrons they operated in and their success as an interceptor?
Hi
Can you tell me what the web address for Graham`s site is please,i`d like to have a look? Thanks BS
I am afraid its against the advertising rules to popst a link pm sent.
Nice to see that your company is acquiring a stall at the Aerojumble, Graham. It will add a bit of pedigree to the event. Hopefully you are bringing along a good selection of stuff, there are some nice items on your web site which I am tempted to buy.
Thats very kind of you to say so but there will be allot of dealers there who have vastlty more experiance and knowledge than me I am a relative new comer.:o
I suppose the inference is that southerners are not always that easy to deal with! :dev2:
Im not sure how you draw that conclusion:confused: Anyone who offers £15 for a Spit trim gauge even 20 years ago deserves a good swift kick in the n**s.:diablo: If I bought one for a £1000 it would take a week to wipe the smile off my face;)
Hello Alan
Over the last ten years I have sold probably 30 blank panels, how many have made it to completion I could not say, I do sell about one repro trim gauge every copuple of months, obviously there are lots of sources of panels other than me.
I did get some excellent repro UC indicators but have only sold 1 in the last 12months.
I recently had a customer who completed his panel after 20 years so in most cases its a very slow process and I guess that explains why not many appear on the market.
Over the years 70% of the UC indicators I have bought come from lofts sheds etc discovered after a relative has died and been in storage for 70 years. The point I am making is that the majority are not ones in circulation from collectors but new finds.
Its interesting that the UC indictors were not made in house, that would explain why trim gauges are so much more hard to find along with of coarse the ellusive flap levers.
Lets hope that in the 5 years since the last Shoreham that lots of WWII bits appear, I noticed over the short time I attended that event (probably 5 years) a dramatic decline in all things WWII.
I think airojumbles could make a come back as prices on ebay tend on the whole to be less than you might pay at airojumbles, where by years ago you could buy at an airojumble and expect to make a profit re selling on ebay.
This could re-dress the balance as its now possible to buy online and sell at a profit at an airojumble.
Of coarse this is good from the dealers perpective , but without the dealers there is no show and the success of the show depends on the quaility and quantity of the things on sale, there will always be customers.
I would sooner pay more at an airojumble where I can handle and inspect the item and not have to pay postage or risk losing an item in the mail (ask Bruce about that one!!)
I will have a stall but only to sell off jet bits that have no interest for me, I am going to BUY BUY BUY :diablo:
Nice site, but annoying pop-ups…..
Bruce
Get yourself a new PC thoses steam powered ones :diablo:do suffer from pop ups, you really have to move with the times Bruce my PC blocks them.:) I just got my first new PC in 8 years 😮 its fast but I hate windows 7. 😡
Where have all these parts gone? There must have been at least 20,000 trim gauges made, in ten years collecting, buying and selling I have had one. Spitfire UC,s whilst rare appear more often, why is that?
As I understand it from the more senior collectors (polite way of saying old:))
that Spit UC indicators were available in numbers 20 years ago so where are they all now???? These things should surely go around in circles as people give up their collections, or pass away, lots of this rare stuff must be out there in numbers so why doesnt it appear on the market???
It will be a condition of his admittance to the event…..;)
Quite right I am glad to hear it, He will have lots of money from book sales to spend on my stall. Loads of Jet powered genuine Spitfire parts and lots of genuine combat reports. :diablo:
A much missed social event.
Mark
Surely you will have a table selling and signing the book? 🙂
This sounds like a great event ….i will be there all things being well on the look out for some Canberra bargins:cool:
