Thanks Bruce Its certainly a real piece of history and great thats it got the serial number on it. Unlike the Spitfire the door does not seemed to be hinged but appears to have locating lugs in the bottom, when the catch is un locked the whole door appears to detach. Have learnt some thing new today.:)

Turned up today by special delivery it came from the Grandaughter of A W Woolley who was killed in the Battle of Britain appearently with 601, she was told by her Grandmother that it came from the sister plane of the one he flew. I have never seen one before and am amazed its made almost entirely out of wood and very light.
Anyone got any ideas what the other lettering is about?

I think steamphobia is covered by this. Its my experiance that those who protest the loudest are the ones with a secret collection of Hornby/Triang steam engines hidden in their closet????????????? and in addition dress up as the fat controller from Thomas the Tank engine when their wives are out shopping. These fetish followers have secret whistles flags etc stashed around their houses. :diablo::diablo:

Well im sorry but i cannot agree with your steamophobic views. I think Baz is very brave to finally come out of the closet and admit his leanings towards steam, yes they are smoky and oily but they smell lovely and I have to admit although I try hard to supress my unatural feeling I to am drawn to the hiss and chuff of a big steam Loco.
Now be honest I know there are others like us over come your feelings of guilt and admit who you are! :diablo:

Baz as a child these feelings can start in early childhood!!

I agree with TT acreditation doesnt mean a thing the first line of my previous posts relates to one of the biggest if not the biggest Museam in the Country although , I am sure they have every piece of red tape ever invented didnt stop them giving me something that didnt belong to them.
