It’s the comments in the first three posts rather than the memorial as such which bother me.
No one is trying to perpetuate hatred, nore do I revel in the destruction of German cities however it is deeply offensive that this politician claims her Countrymen the right to denigh our war dead a memorial. By refusing this memorial it suggests that Bomber command were War criminals, and this is offensive and arrogant. The population of Dresden were not victims of bomber command but of their own polititions, who like it or not were wideley suported by the vast majority of the population.
uuuuuuhhhhh ??? The arrogance of it, I guess she’s mad because if it wasnt for Bomber command and other Allied forces she would be one of the master race now kicking the s**t out of the rest of humanity, instead of some jobsworth European Politition. Put her in the Bomb Bay of the BBMF Lanc and drop her into the sea. I wonder if she has heard of the Blitz ?
Its called having a bit of fun, try looking up sense of humour on google it may help you out.
Out of interest, what was with firing up the engine in the early hours of Sunday morning?
I think it was late evening rather than early hours, sudden night time attack by the enemy required immediate action sorry if it woke you, we were given permission to run up to 12pm I think its possible we may have been a few minutes over.
I also have a little wartime charger with a JAP engine you may have noticed it. Its been stood in my shed for years and i guess its nbot been started in decades, put petrol in it the iother day and it fired first pull. After a quick clean of the brushes it pushed out 9 amps with variable voltage between 10 and 40 it can charge all our batteries.
We have had trouble starting after ten runs.
This little motor is started plugged in and the engine fires instantly every time 🙂
Turkish? I thought he was German :D:D:D I did hear it both days and it didnt get any better.
The mistery of the little ISO car was solved by a chap dressed as a German, got it froim ebay drove 200 miles to pick it up. had to fix all the electrics but runs like a dream now. Made a body for it i knew it had a wood box at the back and used the existing brackets to best guess the shape of the front end
Apparently it was used on Aircraft carriers to pull bombs and ammo around.:)
We arrived lunch time on Friday and so avoided the traffic. I found it an extremely well organised show and the line up was superb with a few extra practice runs on the Friday. The RAF even sorted out some AV Gass when ours ran low they could not do enough for us and i really enjoyed myself along with the rest of the team.
Saw the Vulcan both days and although its not really my thing it looked majestic. The Typhoon really is a rocket machine and the display with the Spit was superb although their last pass looked a little close for comfort.
I understand the B of B flight Lanc cancelled on Sunday due to the wind which I can witness was a bit of a hooley. If we didnt have a big lump up front i would have been worried the spit would have got air borne.
My highlight is evident from the pictures :D:D:D and seeing a big smile on Benyboys face.
Allegedly ?? some things hardly ever seem to change!!
The Sea Hawk flew on Sunday!
The Sea Hawk flew both days.
Looks amazing how do take the wings on and off and transport it?
I can only go on what the chap that makes them says I should use . I am well aware of the risk from oil which my Girl seems to produce in copius ammounts :diablo: They use them in tanks so i guess they are safe.
I have a member of the team who is dedicated to the guns and stays clean at all times. They are a cracking design and fit inside the cannon cowlings with quick relaese fittings at the ports and wing roots. There are as loud as hell, thought the engine would drown them out no fear of that, not sure how many shows will let us fire them 😮
Thanks all will post a link to a video once we get them working properly. Its the first time they have been installed in a Replica aircraft and the first time a twin gun set up has been used.
With oxygen stored in the rear of the cockpit the feeds are much longer than the normal application. The fire rate is set for 50 calls and this seems a little fast. Although the pressure at the guns is correct it has trouble supplying enough gas for constant firing and we are getting allot of missfires. Hopefully slowing down the firing rate will allow them to operate properly.
Although it may carry a MKI part number does not mean it is MKI if the design was not changed the part number remained the same throughy the MKs.
Looks like Spitfire part number to me 346 = Spitfire MKI Merlin II
08 = Bottom outer main planes
There was a documentary some years ago with Tuck and Bader describing the merits of both aircraft, bias aside theres little question the Spitfire was the better aircraft overal and certainly it developed into a far superior machine than the 109. If looks could kill it would be without question the best fighter of all time.
Thats a valid question. Everything is heavily over engineered the engine mount was designed by a race car engineer using maths. The hub attachment is also hugely over engineered 1/4 inch steel plate and 5mm 2inch box bracing, the prop is very light whilst being very strong. Its weighs a fraction of the real thing and you can stop it with your hand at low revs. Although it appears quite realistic it has nothing like the force behind it of the real thing.
We have risk assesments and strict procedures including checks prior to every engine run. Along with 8 hr, weekly and monthly.
The hydraulic by pass valve assertains the power that goes to the prop no matter how hard the engine revs. We have tested the prop to over 600 rpm without losing a blade. In public the prop spins at betwwen 60 and 80 RPM.
of coarse in Queens square we had a full H&S inspection and passed with flying colours.
