What a good positive note ! That is excellent news.

Which part do regard as positive? A lot of the local community are apparently not at all happy with the influx of old people into their area whatever their ethnic origin-most of them come from other areas of britain. As such they are immigrants to the area.
As the ‘indigenous’ locals find it much more difficult to access local services such as the GP’s as a result, perhaps you would advocate preventing non-locals from using the services, or sending all these people back to the villages and towns where they were born? It is about as logical as your arguments regarding immigrants to the UK being prevented from coming or repatriated.

7 million new patients? Where on gods good earth did you get that figure from?
Edit: I have just checked, the rise in foreign born workers in UK has risen by approx 3 million since 1993. The source? Oxford University migration Observatory
I work part time at a GP’s surgery at the moment. There is indeed an influx of new patient’s there, but they are predominantly elderly white british people as in our area there are a lot of retirement homes being built. As elderly people tend to have more things wrong with them, this has dramatically increased the workload of all of the staff in the surgery, but they are coping, just.
The few new patients from EU countries and beyond are predominantly young and fit so use very little of the resource.

I understand that you are resident somewhere in East Anglia so, understandably, from your perhaps remote rural location, you will, necessarily, have little understanding or sympathy for the average ‘townie’ gamely competing among the throng for goods and services.

You are of course aware that housing, particularly affordable housing in either rented or owned sectors is even more difficult an issue in rural communities than cities. Other infrastructure, such as access to schools and medical facilites are poorer in general in such communities than cities. In my county, rural schools are closing, doctors surgeries cannot recruit GP’s , social services are being drastically cut for outlying communities, and none of this is due to pressure of immigration.

Who on earth believes the Guardian ?

It is certainly more reliable than any of the tabloids and at least the equal of the other broadsheets The paper won the pulitzer prize for public service journalism last year. Can’t remember the del tel or the daily fail achieving that accolade.

As has been discussed before, if one limits ones horizons to only one or two sources one is likely to have a very narrow perspective and have ones prejudices reinforced. Read more widely and at least you have the opportunity to challenge conjecture presented as fact.

As for numbers, I do not think that anyone knows – whether private agency or State, I believe, as a matter of deliberate policy, that disinformation was and is the order of the day.

Ah, so because the numbers presented do not fit your perspective, you declare them disinformation. Clever

Yes. I know you’ll agree with me that this move has all the right ingredients and is firmly a step in the right direction. My interpretation is that Hammond intends to deal primarily with the economic migrants who judged by numerous television interviews, form the bulk

Unfortunately for Mr. Hammond and Mrs.May, the facts do not appear to bear out their interpretation of the ‘Crisis’

An interesting alternative viewpoint is here- please don’t just dismiss because of the source, I recommend that you read and make your own mind up. You may disagree with the “spin” but at least it might show that not everything that has been in the more hysterical side of the media has been properly considered.

And in the Hitchhiker’s guide, after all the ‘dregs’ left on the B shipbefore the A and C ships of course and in particular the telephone sanitisers, the thinkers and really useful people were killed off on their planetby a virulent disease hatched on unsanitised phones. Don’t assume you know who are the most important in society;)

“Inline” is a bit of a misnomer. Imagine a horizontally opposed 12 cylinder engine, then another the same on top of it. It’s a beast!

Then imagine the sleeve drives for each bank. It is a complicated beast

Now we have it ! The final proof that the Government in the form of Phillip Hammond, Foreign Secretary, reads this Forum and is prepared to act upon the sage advice and wisdom contained therein.

It is reported in the D. Tel (report, 10th inst) that Mr. Hammond is suggesting that to stop the migrants ‘in their tracks’ it will be necessary to send back to their country of origin, those already here.

There we are ! All the ‘rednecks’ including me are vindicated.

He actually said that “those not entitled to claim assylum” should be returned. Not all migrants. Subtle but important difference.

And had you considered that Mr. Hammond, the Del. Tel and you might all be wrong?

10 minute display over Duxford by the Albatros on its way to Stow Marie’s. Magic

    Brian

did they fly the Snipe over to Stow Maries as well, or did that get dismantled and taken by road? If flown I would assume that it would be one of the longest rotary engined cross country flights in UK for some time

Edit: If I had bothered to look on WAHT site before posing the above question I would have seen that Jean Munn flew over yesterday in the Snipe. Fantastic!

Quote (I was surprised to see visitors who were on a tour wandering all over the place on the flight line away from the guide so I am not sure if it is as well policed).

In my experience the tour marshals will give you a little freedom providing there is no danger of aircraft movements or mechanical activity, and they can see you are responsible and aware. I always ask permission to move a little way out of the group for a shot and then immediately return.

    John

I know what you have described is their usual attitude, but in the specific incident I was referring two there were a couple of people who were way away from their group, wandering around one aircraft when their guide and the others in their party had moved at least three aircraft further on and the guide had her back to them for quite a few minutes. As they were looking closely at one aircraft, another next to them was being prepared for a test flight. I watched as I thought it quite unusual

The price for tours went up when the Collection took over their running from the SVAS photo section. For an admittedly single event look from the other side of the fence last Sunday, I was surprised to see visitors who were on a tour wandering all over the place on the fllightline away from the guide so I am not sure if it is as well policed.

Edit: I didn’t mean this to sound like a complaint, it was just an observation-I am fully aware why the Collection made the decsison to take over the tours and I guess they might be finding their feet.
