    He looks guilty! :diablo:

    Guilty as hell.

I hope the cops can catch this guy after the fireworks party, so that he can spend the rest of the New Year in prison.

Missile Envy: Modernizing the US ICBM Force

Article excerpt from Defense Industry Daily

Missile Envy: Modernizing the US ICBM Force

For 50 years, land-based Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) have been part of the US primary strategic deterrence capability, the nuclear-armed triad that also includes submarine-launched ballistic missiles and long range heavy bombers.

Although the main target for the US deterrent – the Soviet Union – imploded in 1991, other threats – such as nuclear-armed rogue states and non-state actors – have emerged. To address these new threats, the US Air Force undertook a major ICBM modernization program.

To carry out this program, the USAF awarded a 15-year ICBM Prime Integration Contract (F42610-98-C-0001) in 1997 to a team led by Northrop Grumman. Since then, the team, which includes Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and ATK, has been carrying out a major modernization of the ICBM system to ensure its readiness…

    China executes British drug smuggler

    Article from Nine News

    China executes British drug smuggler

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says China has executed British national Akmal Shaikh, a move he condemned “in the strongest terms.”

“I condemn the execution of Akmal Shaikh in the strongest terms, and am appalled and disappointed that our persistent requests for clemency have not been granted,” Brown said in a statement on Tuesday.

“I am particularly concerned that no mental health assessment was undertaken.

“At this time our thoughts are with Mr Shaikh’s family and friends and I send them our sincere condolences,” he said.

The British government and Shaikh’s family made last-ditch appeals on Monday to China to show clemency in his case.

Shaikh, a 53-year-old father-of-three from London, suffers from bipolar disorder, according to his supporters.

He was arrested in September 2007 in Urumqi in far western China with four kilograms of heroin, but campaigners say a criminal gang exploited his mental illness to dupe him into carrying the drugs.

Shaikh has become the first national from a European Union country to be executed in China in 50 years, according to the London-based charity Reprieve, which had been providing him with legal counsel.
