I love Shoreham Airshow! but I sooooo wish they’d get a new commentator, the current one somehow manages to mention his days of flying Concorde during every single display, and everything according to him is “such a joy to fly” ok , we get it, you’re and ex Concorde pilot & you’e flown everything. It drives me and Grandpa mad every year lol
Regardless of that, I’m really looking forward to it as always 😀
Matt, I know what you mean as I go for both days every year, a good commenatator should be talking about what is going on in the skies rather than his qualifications for being there in the first place, totally different if Concorde was to do a fly by! – perhaps a “small” piece in the programme on his experience would suffice.
I have just finished reading a book titled “Gray Eagles” by the author Duane Unkefer first published in 1986.
It tells the fictional story of 8 former Luftwaffe ace’s who meet up in 1976 and fly restored ME109G’s which has been rebuilt by a former Vietnam veteran, then their leader decides to seek revenge on a former USAF pilot who was responsible for shooting him down in 1945 forcing a rematch over the skies of America. I will not go into every detail of the book as it would spoil it for anybody wishing to read it however to me this would be my choice of what aviation book I would like to see on the big screen.Whats yours?
I read this when it first came out and have read it a couple of times since.
My own choice would be Shadow 81 by Lucien Nahum – very obscure but if you have read it you will know what I mean.
Does the pilot sit on a Cillit Bang Seat?
Love it:D
Thanks Dr John
Thats the one, only question now is where was it filmed?

after he used his.
mmitch.
Out of interest what make was this.
Is that not Tom Blairs jet?
Yes it is, well spotted
What a fascinating bit of footage, thank you.
Aw a bit naughty Sadsack, XL318 was properly dismantled at Scampton, roaded to and rebuilt at Hendon by an RAF team with no wrecking of it at all, in fact it must have been quite a labour intensive and expensive task.
Pics here, http://www.avrovulcan.org.uk/XL318_dismantling/index.htm
What a fascinating series of photos
Folks,
Are you absolutely sure this photo is in the right thread??
Should it not be in the “How low can you get” thread?
Whatever display team this is, they certainly win hands down!! Lol!
Michael
Brilliant!:)
Sorry March.
I have to agree with AJ Marsh, I also read the thread title with a lump in my throat.
I am sure there is a very good explanation for why the chap in the yellow jumper is wearing a wellington boot on his hand in the last photo!
