is the bit that concerns me.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not spitting feathers here but I just have a gut feeling this is the wrong direction.

Me crystal ball’s gone out! 🙂 care to expand a bit??
I somehow doubt that Rolls Royce, who were sponsoring the event to the tune of many thousands of pounds, would come up with a ‘tin pot scheme’ for mounting the exhibits to the display! I have heard that the stress calculations for the construction used some almost Tornado like wind strengths to be safe. Would you want to be the engineering company that ‘got it wrong’? Rolls Royce plc, spent a great deal of money on the display which represents their centenary as a Company (yes, I know there was a bit of a glitch in the 70’s or 80’s) So, come on, just enjoy the display for the ‘art’ it is, instead of always getting on a soapbox & having a go at the way people do things in a different way than perhaps the rest of us would do it.
May be if we started to see things as they are, for what they are, & not how we think they should be then we might all get to benefit from the way the ‘professionals’ do it, rather than how the ‘experts’ think it should be done!!

At the risk of incurring some wrath, 😮 what do Reg spotters get out of taking numbers off the side of aircraft? Not wishing to upset anyone, I am genuinely wanting to know. When I worked at Lulsgate (Bristol Airport) we had some aircraft in bits stored in the hangar & we used to get spotters round from time to time, I asked one if he wanted to know what the aircraft was & some of it’s history, he gave me a blank look & said he only wanted the number off the side! I have to say that from that day on I was not the most helpful person when next a spotter appeared!
I know one thing that won’t be at FL’s this year, ME, sorry to disappoint you all but I’m elsewhere, however both Mustang & Spitfire will be in full effect, we now have the new brake bits from the States for the P51 so that should keep the hydraulic fluid where it should be instead of on the hangar floor.
Have a good weekend there!
Cheers………….
(from one ‘in the know’) 😉
The CAA have already agreed, in principle.
Do the CAA have any?? 😀 😀
I’m still not holding my breath!
Cheers………..
Excuse me If I don’t hold my breath, What are the CAA saying about all this? no matter how much money you all throw into the sky It’s the CAA that will have the last say if It will fly or not!
Cheers………………….
They launched for a photo shoot, I just wondered if anyone saw them, Have a great time on Friday,
How’s you know who? 😉
Cheers…………………
Unless you want to fly backwards, yes :p
BTW, has anyone noticed how many of the props on Discovery Wings are turning in the wrong direction??? 😀
Cheers…………..
& what are these ‘reputation points’ all about ??????
Was the PR19 flying at D-day or was it built afterwards ?
G-RRGN was built in 1944 as was the MkVIII & Miss Helen
Cheers……………….
Irregularity? The PR.XIX is incorrectly trestled.
?????
You make do with what you have! So what’s the problem??
At the time of the picture the tail jack & strut were out as were 50% of the wing bolts! accessory gearbox, R/H aileron & the injector diaphram! so there was a fair bit going on, plus cam & finger replacement on Miss Helen. PR.XIX was test flown on Saturday morning, then a splash of petrol & up to East Midlands with the P51 for the big Rolls Royce Bash. Not enough hours in the day! so I’m sorry if we had the tressles in the wrong position, we’ll try harder next time for you all. 😉
Cheers……….. 🙂
Sounds like some of you need to step back & look at Airshows As a whole, Facts are that popular Airshows are going to have many people attending, you only have to look at a large scale map to see what the access to the show is going to be like, get there early! leave late, have a picnic after the show & chill out after a good display, that way there is little to no stress! Most folks on this forum have been to large shows, you should know the score by now. It never fails to amaze me that folks expect to be able to arrive halfway through the day & then breeze in with no holdups! Cheers…………………….
Just wondering how Mr Spotter with bow n’ arrow case was walking down what appears to be ‘Air Side’ without any HiViz vest? or have I got it wrong???
Cheers…………….
Yes yes much comment of the experts as ussual “you shoudn’t have sad this or i would not have said it that way etc … as long as you people can give comments….and do some post replies it’s more like a sport for the most of you
Well said Bart, I have to agree that it looks that way sometimes, I’m in the Warbird industry & have mostly stopped posting anything that might possibly be interesting through knowing about the subject for this very reason!
Cheers…………..
And we’ll have Syd Barrett lookalike Steve Vizard on again, too! (You’ll have to be VERY well versed in your Pink Floyd to know about that one…)
🙂
Scuze me, But Syd had more hair than Steve Vizard !!!! 😀 😀 😀
(I’ve got a mouse who hasn’t got a house, I don’t know why I call him Gerald, He’s gettig rather old but he’s a good mouse!) 😎
Wow, what lyrics! (pre Gilmor)
Cheers………………………….
If I remember correctly it seems you Brits shot down at least one Learjet recon plane during that little conflict down in the South Atlantic. Painted in the appropriate livery almost anything can be a warbird
😮 😮 Blimey Geezer! 😮 😮 Thats a bit rich coming from the land of own goals 😀
Seems to me that it may be safer with the opposition when the USA comes rollin down the road pumped n’ tooled up!!
Cheers………………………. 🙂 🙂
