Well we certainly made better use of their resources than they do and they killed more of each other than we ever did.

I’m sorry, I must have missed the moment when two wrongs became a right. Was a memo sent round?

Why is it we only hear from you, mainly when I am on line?

I’m not sure I like the implication in that sentence. If you have a problem with the way that this forum is moderated, take it up with the Webmaster.

And I would guess I am not the only one who thinks like this.

I wouldn’t imagine there are too many other people who blame high petrol prices on illegal immigrants.

As regards whats P.C. got to do with this, read the Post, what religeon are we this year, there are too many spongers in this country, and if there were not, we would have more money to help our own, and possibly all pay less taxes, and pay less for lots of things like NHS Prescriptions which have just gone up again.

Ah, so now high petrol prices are the fault of ‘spongers’.

Make your mind up, mate. 🙂

In the meantime, the oil companies’ profits rise and rise and rise. Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

And you keep chucking the abbreviation “PC” about today. What on earth does it actually mean?

Not sure what you mean. Correct me if I am wrong but English has been the official language of the UK for centuries.

That’s not the same thing as English being an individual’s first language. Not by a long chalk.

Funny that, I could ask the very same thing about your claims that two foreign wars have had caused the problems. Remember the expenses for those wars did not come out of the defense budgets.

Strawman. I said that the UKs involvement in two foreign wars contributed to the wider crisis in public finances, not that it was the cause.

I can only guess I touched a nerve mentioning foreign aid.

You are free to guess and imply whatever you like, as is your prerogative.

It won’t alter the facts, though.

The argument is irrelevant to Welsh and Gaelic speakers because English is their first language anyway.

That’s a rather sweeping statement. Do you have a source?

Don’t forget the £8 billion a year flushed away in foreign aid.

Which you seem to be (rather naively) assuming would otherwise have been spent on defence.

Much of the foreign aid provided directly by UK Government (as opposed to that given via NGOs) takes the form of export guarantees and development grants with strings attached and, as such, is a useful tool of international diplomacy.

“Royal Air Police” indeed. Seriously, how did the UK get itself into this budgetary predicament?

Becoming embroiled in not one but two foreign wars in a time of ever-mounting government debt and deficits, combined with a major international financial crisis brought about by the greed and avarice of the major banks, will do it every time.

BTW – regarding post #23,the ‘defence correspondent’ for The Register is a relentless cheerleader and fanboi of all things American and US-made and also a hardened Europhobe.

I personally wouldn’t treat any defence-related article on that particular site as a source of anything remotely approching objective fact – and I speak as a registered member of the site who visits it on at least a daily basis.

Only an idiot would ignore operational conditions and just compare fighter numbers and specs in a vacuum.

And only the reckless would ignore our Code of Conduct and use terms like “idiot” to describe fellow members of this site.

That’s todays’ Thought For The Day.
