The practice of kneeling and kissing the floor is standard practice in Islam.

The previous Pope made a bit of a habit of it, and I’m fairly sure that he wasn’t a Moslem.

Welcome to the VLO club. Better late than never. 😀

    Hmmmm.

If you’d heard some of the stories and rumours about sightings of “black triangles” in and around the North-West of England (the area in which Warton is located, for the benefit of non-UK members) over the past couple of decades or so, then you might not be quite so confident about the “late” bit.

    :p

Red Hunter will, I am sure, be delighted to learn that the 2010-2011 Champions’ League has already started with the Montenegran Champions Rudar beating Tre Fiori of San Marino 4-1 on 7 July (7-1 on aggregate) in the First Qualifying Round.

His joy will surely be magnified by the news that the group stage of the 2010 European Under-19 Championship will start in France on 18 July.

And yes, England are in it. 🙂

Did political appointees to the Lords only start in 1997?

Asquith and Lloyd George threatened to create a flood of Liberal Peers if the Lords blocked the latter’s radical budget of 1909-10 for a second time.

Lord Melbourne made a similar threat in 1832 to forestall any attempt by the Upper House to block the passage of his Great Reform Bill.

    So no, they didn’t. 🙂

Peerages are regularly bestowed on even less-deserving figures, and no-one bats an eyelid.

Like him or loathe him, at least Prescott has a personality and isn’t just another grey identikit party apparatchik.

Anyway, Labour aren’t in power any more so it’s time to move on and extract the urine from the current regime.

God knows there’s plenty of scope…..

    Chaps,

I’ve edited quite a few posts in this thread.

Item 15 of our Code Of Conduct says: “Do not quote previous posts when you post replies on the forum as this takes up resources that can affect the performance of the forum. Any quotes will be removed by the moderators.”

While we’re fairly relaxed about quoting parts of other postings to highlight the point you are responding to (within reason!) we do have to draw the line at quoting the posting directly above your own and/or including pictures in quotes from other postings.

Please bear this in mind in the future.

    Thanks for your co-operation. 🙂

We’re fairly relaxed about quoting parts of other posts when it is done to highlight a particular point that you wish to respond to.

We do draw the line at quoting the whole of the posting immediately above your own, though.

Including pictures in quotes from other posts is a “no-no”, too.

I hope this helps to clarify matters.

    I don’t see them either.

There’s an ‘Error 403’ box generated by ImageShack instead.

The image from post #1 has gone the same way.

Did your postings originally quote the posting directly above them, Arrows?

I do tend to edit without further explanation in that situation, in line with item 15 of the site owners’ Code of Conduct.

Feel free to PM me if that wasn’t the case and we’ll try to sort things out.

I’ll be sure to include a reason for any edits I make from here on in.

    Cheers

Ah, you mis understand, or I wasn’t clear enough….this is my version, my suggestion.
I was not trying to replicate the official version as I think it looks too drab.

    Ah, right.

Sorry about that, me old mucker.
