The majority of people do speed.

They do not.

It may very well be that a large number of motorists who happen to have an over-developed sense of entitlement regularly exceed the legal speed limit, but that’s not the same thing as “the majority of people” by any stretch of the imagination.

Besides, shop lifting has more health and safety issues, it’s hardly a one man lift 🙂

It is, but Airlines never put a new type in service immediately upon recieving the first one. They usualy take a month or so to train folks up and make sure all is in order.

There’s no substitute for hands-on training with the genuine article, and “teething troubles” often only become apparent once an aircraft is handed over to experienced operational staff.

Again….Airbus didn’t have models to compete with the 707, 727s, 737s or 747s when they were first purchased by Air France. In fact, when AF bought its first Boeng jets, Airbus didn’t exist. 😉

You’ve said it yourself – Airbus didn’t exist at the time. By what stretch of the imagination can a company that does not exist compete with one that does?

However, McDonnell Douglas and Lockheed were competing with Boeing in the airliner business at that time.

Yet Air France didn’t order the DC8 (although they did have a “pool” agreement with Trans-Canada Airlines on Paris-Montreal flights for a while), or the DC9 or DC10. Or the L1011, for that matter.

Instead, they ordered Boeings – which only strengthens my case that the airline is a long-standing and committed Boeing customer.

I’m glad Air France buy Boeings, it shows they know a good product when they see it.

No-one in their right mind would disagree that Boeing have a long and proud tradition of producing fine airliners.
