On a point of information, the Culture, Media and Sport Committee doesn’t hear evidence in the Palace of Westminster but in Portcullis House across the road.

Without going into detail (obviously!), I know from my own experience that the security regime in the latter building isn’t quite as strict as in the former.

It all seems a little too convenient to my mind.

Media attention has been neatly diverted from Murdoch Senior’s at times rather bewildered and hesitant performance yesterday.

He makes a fair point when he talks about Heathrow and Stansted serving completely different markets, but the Competition Commission seem to be thinking in terms of overall capacity within the catchment area rather than in terms of target markets.

But who could reasonably expect BAA to be making happy noises about this?

I thought I made pretty clear above, (you did read it didn’t you?) is that people don’t like Murdoch for a number of reasons, so his business being involved made a bad situation that much worse.

You made it clear that you think people dislike Murdoch because he is “foreign”, and now you’re back-tracking.

It’s just that Murdoch is not well liked in the UK…for many reasons.
Wealth, power, and nationality are among them.
