I’ll bet it was taken with a big lens – 400-500mm.
The “foreshortening” effect of large lenses would make the helicopter appear to be much closer to the tail of the A380 than it actually was.
I know the feeling, T5.
In between taking these pictures, I was chatting away to another spotter.
I was still chatting away while the CRJ G-ELNX taxied slowly past, still wearing the full Ansett livery! :(:(:(

I heard the landing gear struts were designed and built in Canada by BFGoodrich.
Hmmm….
This is from the BF Goodrich website: “The landing gear for the A380 will be designed and manufactured at the company’s facilities in Cleveland, Ohio, and Oakville, Ontario. Final assembly will be in Goodrich’s facilities next to the A380 assembly line in Toulouse, France.“

Thanks, EK. 🙂
Thanks, EK. 🙂
What are them building works behind the Air France? Is it anything to do with the airport?
Some say it’s a hotel, others say it’s more stands for aircraft. There isn’t any sign of structural work, so I’m leaning more towards the “new stands” theory. 🙂
Not as good as mine!
But much, much wetter…… 😀

Sorry, mate – my edit to include the TOW for today’s flight crossed with your last posting. 🙂

According to some people – who shall remain nameless – it was supposed to be grossly overweight to the tune of many tonnes.
In any case 6 hours fuel, a shedload of telemetry equipment and water ballast is nothing to be sneezed at weight-wise. The Trent 900s are de-rated at the moment, too.
The TOW was 421T, apparently. How heavy is B747-400?
Or is it different when it’s a Boeing?
