SH: I think that part of the problem is that people – politicians and pundits alike – are offering simplistic solutions to complex issues.
In today’s “gimme now” culture, we increasingly demand instant fixes for problems that originate from multiple sources and have taken decades to develop.
This resounds with the short-termism prevalent throughout British politics, where our leaders (and would-be leaders) will promise us the moon on a stick if that’s what it takes to secure another four or five years with their snouts in the trough.
So they peddle the line that it’s all their fault (whoever they happen to be at the time) but that Party X alone has the magic bullet that will put everything to rights.
It is nothing less than moral and intellectual dishonesty, but we fall for it time after time.
It has been said that, in a democracy, we get the standard of government that we deserve.
Looking at the UK over the last couple of decades, one can only marvel at the self-evident truth of this saying.

Saying it is an ill considdered rant is mereley your way of saying i do not view your narrow minded views
No, it’s my way of saying it’s an ill-considered rant.
As for “narrow-minded” views, while I’m reluctant to offer encouragment to your apparent desire to descend to the personal level, I would ask you to quote a specific example of my “narrow-mindedness” so that I can at least understand what you are talking about.
You can do that, can’t you?

It has to be acknowledged that there is a case to be made for barring strikes in public services on which people’s lives may depend – eg, the Fire Service.
But only if any such law obliged unions and employers to settle disputes by means of neutral arbitration and made the outcome of arbitration legally binding on all parties – including Government, both local and national.

actualy that was a yes i can !!
Once again, you seem to be confusing “opinion” with “evidence”.
Simply saying something does not automatically make it so, no matter how many times you repeat it.
The remainder of your posting is an ill-considered and ignorant rant, so I do not propose to dignify it with further comment.
That was’nt a dismissive remark, trust me.
My source was the BBC news.
Now, there’s a coincidence. 😀 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/13974542
