Ah, but it’s moved since last weekend. 😉

The Balkan IL18s were usually seen when one of the Tu154s had a poorly engine or something.
Interflug IL18s were also to be seen, albeit rarely.

Very nice, Britannia. 🙂

I took all of these from the top of the Terminal One car park, Aviation Man.

Given that Robin Hood is a semi-fictional character to begin with, I’d take the “evidence” on the website with a pinch of salt to be honest.
Whatever next? Newquay “rebranded” as “King Arthur International”? 😉

No-one called Menachem Begin a terrorist when he died.
Apart from the families of people beaten, kidnapped or killed by the Stern Gang or the Irgun, maybe.
It’s still blimmin’ ugly! 😮
Emergency exits in the roof and floor? That’d be a big help if the aircraft was on fire after a wheels up landing – about as much use as the downward-firing ejection seats would be in an aborted take-off in a B52. 😉

It always escapes how some people think that the name of an airport will somehow magically “bring prosperity to the area”.
I mean, does some idiot somewhere think that calling the place “Doncaster Finningley Airport” will conjour up hordes of foreign visitors hungry to hurl their dollars, euro, yen or whatever at Doncaster? Or that these putative benefactors would hurl it elsewhere if the airport were otherwise named?
It’ll always be Finningley to me and, I suspect, to a lot of others too.
What the hell has Robin Hood got to do with Doncaster anyway?
