I never have a problem with the fence on the T1 car park, Comet. It’s no impediment at all to the photographer with a little bit of imagination.
I have to say that I hardly recognise the BHX that you describe, despite enjoying regular visits to that airport.
The Aviation Experience, while very useful indeed for the casual visitor and Ian Allan customer, is next to useless for photography due to the rather dirty windows and obstructed views along the front of the terminal.
A far better vantage point is the open-air viewing area alongside the EuroHub – but the fence here is even more obtrusive than the one you found so objectionable at MAN, and lacks the camera holes that are to be found in the latter.
Reasonable shots of aircraft landing and taking off can be obtained by standing on benches but this is far from ideal, especially in wet weather.
You are, of course, quite entitled to your opinion – and it is quite clear that you do not like MAN. Fine – I’m sure you’ll be sadly missed in these parts.
I would hate to think that anyone not familiar with MAN and considering a trip there could be misled by your rather jaundiced and less than objective comments and so miss out one of the busiest airports in the country and one of the most spotter-friendly airports in Europe.
