And RIPConcorde wins the goldfish!!! It was N78008 of Continental.

Talking of B777s, the nosewheel of Singapore’s 9V-SVO seemed to turn to an unusual angle on pushback. The aircraft was towed back onto the gate, the passengers disembarked, and it was then towed to the central “pier” for examination by engineers – as can be seen in the LH B737 picture.

Funnily enough, I was talking to one of the draughtsmen who worked on it only last Thursday and he said almost exactly the very same thing as I just did.

I’m sorry, but it is just another retired aeroplane and, in commercial terms at least, not a particularly successful one at that.

You can’t compare any retired aeroplane to Concorde.

    Of course I can!

At the end of the day, it’s just a machine for transporting people and their luggage from Point A to Point B that has outlived it’s usefulness.

    Nothing more, nothing less…………….

    C’mon, chaps.

It’s a retired aeroplane. The world is full of them. Some in better nick than that, some in worse.

I hear what you say, but they’ve hardly been ignored.

Let’s see how many comment on mine later, should there be anything of interest at Ringway….

    What point?

If you’ve got piccies to share with the rest of us, then share them!

I don’t understand your issue with the response – what is that you’re expecting, exactly?

They’re good pictures – what more do you need?

I understand, but anyone not from Manchester listening to inbound and outbound traffic on their scanner wouldn’t hear “Runway 2” mentioned an awful lot, would they?

    “Runway 2”????

Surely you are referring to 24L/06R, laddie!!!!! 😉

At the moment (18:15 local) , 24R is in use for landing and 24L for take-offs.

Well, the exhaust temperature of an RB211 is somewhere in the order of 450 C, so it’d have to be a very hot day indeed!

Two things (apart from the angle of the sun) about that BA picture still nag at me .

    1) If you look closely at the area around the tail and tailcone it looks as though it’s been matted onto the background.

    2) Where’s the exhaust from the 4 engines? The background behind the rear of the aircraft should be blurred by the hot exhaust gases (compare with the IL62 picture). It doesn’t appear to be, though.
