That is Moggy vindicated then, hopefully.:eagerness:
With all due respect to you Meddle, it has all been said before, many times, many, many times, which, in part is why the threads were locked as this is old news and discussed to death in the original thread. Personally I would like to see the original thread re-instated, all be it locked and cut back, as it contained a lot of very interesting and very well researched posts by well respected forumites. Some had clearly spent a lot of time on researching for their post and I can understand why they are aggrieved that their information is no longer available.
Thanks for posting, hadn’t seen this.
Surprised at the relative size compared with Belfast.
Thanks Aeroquip now we have the bigger picture.:highly_amused:
Supermarine Spitfires not Triumph.:eagerness:
It has emerged that his father, Seddique Mateen, has a television show on a California-based channel that expresses anti-Pakistani government views and sympathy for the Afghan Taliban.
Only in America?
“At 02:09, the nightclub posted on its Facebook page: “Everyone get out of pulse and keep running.””
He bought two guns a week apart at the gun shop at a gun range. He was seen practicing with them in a “gung ho” way at the range. The shop has been investigated and found to have complied with all laws.
The guy had previously worked for G4S as a security guard. I am really glad that G4S failed at the Olympics and the job was done very well by the people who should have been doing it in the first place, HMAF.
Now I am going to write out a hundred lines…
I must not get drawn into this pointless thread. I must not get drawn into this pointless thread.I must not get drawn into this pointless thread.I must not get drawn into this pointless thread.I must not get drawn into this pointless thread.I must not get drawn into this pointless thread.
Why is it the phrase “trying to justify the unjustifiable ” come to mind?
My one and only previous post on this thread, and I still think it says it all.
The stats in previous posts to that said it all in my view.
Nice one Meddle.:D Interesting too.
I will not get drawn into this pointless thread. I will not get drawn into this pointless thread. I will not get drawn into this pointless thread. I will not get drawn into this pointless thread.
Not often I see things differently to you Charlie!
I didn’t “catch” your post but it would seem that I took Moggy’s “Oh dear” in a different way to some people and possibly yourself.
It was another news paper report with a bit of hype and at least one inaccuracy. “at London’s International War Museum”. There’ another museum to add to the bucket list.
I just found it amusing in Moggy’s usual way and he was not posting as a mod unlike when he closed the thread. Again, in my innocence, or should that be ignorance, I didn’t see any hidden meaning in “the last word”. However, I have to accept several worthy forumites did.
I was very pleased to see Mark12 posting as, like most, I highly value his contributions and if the closing post was intended to be significant then I would be very disappointed if it had a detrimental effect.
Certainly agree with Matt in post #18 and I did plead for the thread to be kept available for reference to the many earlier excellent posts including those from Matt. The time necessary to edit was a concern but I thought just chop it off at around #1000 would be a compromise but to no avail.
Personally I have no problems with Moggy, all the mods do a, at some time, thankless job and the original thread had got way past acceptability IMHO. I know nothing of what friction there has been between Moggy and certain forumites although as I normally highly respect the posts of most of those forumites it would indicate that there was a problem. Moggy has his view which he expressed very clearly in the original thread and IIRC he introduced red postings if posting as a mod. Moggy’s sense of humour can be very cutting which personally I like even though on occasions I have been on the receiving end.
As to the new thread I had started to feel that old ground was starting to be covered which, of course, is to be expected with new people coming to the subject. Then the very welcome post from Mark12 came along and I felt that that was more than a recap but contained news, well it did for me anyway. I was surprised to find the thread closed as there could have been legitimate discussion on its content. So I would like to see the thread re-opened for that discussion as long as it does not degenerate as before.
Saw this and thought of this tread

Only in the USA
From the pictures in Paul’s post it seems that a Japanese word may have lost some meaning in the translation. If the Spitfires are “underground” like these Japanese hangars then surely they would have tripped over them by now?
Indeed, Geoff has it exactly right.
Mark12, I very much hope you intend to continue posting. I, like many others, miss your invaluable contributions to the forum. Welcome back, please.
I am with Ghostrider on this as well. Bob, short and sweet, easy to remember and relevant.
