The Dove’s pilot displayed the aeroplane beautifully with an “athletic” display. And this picture clearly shows the asymmetric design of the elevators.

Something new learnt today, and that’s why I come here.

The Twin Pioneer in the back section of the restoration hanger. PS composite picture as could not get far enough away. PS has done a brilliant job. And no the prop is not really that long.

    Does the Twin Pin fly?

No not without its wings it doesn’t but I haven’t posted those pics yet!:D. Under restoration but problems locating drawings to manufacture new wing attachments, the existing ones having life expired.

Mainly to increase the available blade area within a given diameter.

    Moggy

Presumably larger blade area means more thrust and that with a single prop there is a practical/technical limit on blade area at a given diameter?

David is, of course, correct. Asymmetric elevators is a design feature where 14″ was cut off to resolve buffeting issues. It wasn’t clear if this was as a result of the increased flight deck bubble on the MK 8 or if all models were so. The CAF example is technically a Devon being a 104 C1 but is registered with the CAA as a Mk 8.

Ah Moggy beat me to it. I say if it sounds like foreign muck it is foreign muck mainly made from foreign ingredients. What’s wrong with the good old bangers and mash like my momma used to make, with gravy made with beef dripping.

Anyway isn’t M & S a bit up market, M & S is for investing not shopping in, and very well it is doing too, I have to shop at Tescos. Next three pages will be about which is the cheapest supermarket and which is most ethical, and that will be drift!!

Thanks for pointing that out, spotted my deliberate mistake!! Sifted through a few pictures this morning a bit too quickly and did not even notice the big yellow stripes.
I will put it right. Thanks

Hi Tom and welcome to the forum and the information.

We enjoyed the day very much and thought a lot of effort had been put in which is a massive achievement for a single “Company” event. I thought the day was a success from a spectator point of view and hope you thought it was a success too.
I think the main cause of our grumpiness was the cold wind but at least the rain held off until today. You will have notice that a large number of attendees where men of a certain age following their photographic hobby. The fence does have a couple of viewing apertures at one end, perhaps as time allows more could be added. The burger bar was excellent at a very reasonable price unlike some venues.
So basically nit picking really which means there wasn’t really anything bad to say.
Thank you for a great show and the opportunity to see this wonderful collection in the air and hope you concidered the day a success and will arrange further events.
Speaking to local people and at the hotel nobody seemed to be aware that an airshow was taking place.

No not flare the cut off is so sharp it must be digital. I have not processed in any way so must have been the camera.

It has occurred to me that the individual displays were widely spaced as they were waiting for their slots at an active airfield. It was a cold wind and lots, including myself, were “commenting” on the long “delays” between displays so that would account for it and is understandable.

Thanks again Anon. The quick answer is the obvious one, it wasn’t its the photo, I’ll post another one and look into why it looks different but it will probably be flare as I was up almost two stops so it wasn’t a dark silhouette.
