Soggy, I wouldn’t invest too much attention in David’s comments. He simply likes to contradict or criticise whenever I post anything. As for MOSI, I don’t know what their position is. They have asked me to raise my concerns with them though, so if I find the time over the next few days, I will talk to them, and if there is any news I will obviously pass it back to the forum 🙂
I am with David on this one, this was covered very well on the previous thread. Politicians like to say we will close you so that you are relieved when they only cut your budget! Close the NRM, seriously!
The building is a seriously beautiful building and of interest in itself and no doubt will be restored in due time. Cannot do/pay for everything at the same time
The loss of the exhibits on the upper walkway is of course a shame but IIRC there was no access either as the view down is excellent. Perhaps you could ask them to re-open the walkway or at least in part.

PS What is serious is the Ordsall Chord, now approved.
As others have said dust is the least of a Shackleton’s worries. 960 looked very well presented and externally maintained and it is under cover. Cannot really get any better than that other than flying! I hope the museums troubles are past, although I wonder if it was politicians playing their usual games. The museum is FREE so it is important that voluntary contributions are made on visiting and also to The Shackleton Preservation Trust who has a crowdfund running at the moment so if we want to see it fly sooner rather than later then they need our support now.
Go to Coventry on the 2 May for a great Classic airshow, plane rides AND hear those four growlers roar, I think that’s the plane, Rich will know for sure.
Well dust or not 960 is looking a hell of a lot better than poor old XF708 seen at Duxford yesterday with her blades hacked off!

I always feel guilty using concession entrance prices or buy one get one hnfree vouchers published in a certain magazine. I mean they need the money and every pound helps.
The worst museum I have ever visited of any type or size is the IWM North. If they had charged for entry I would have asked for my money back. Visit this first to see how it shouldn’t be done, IMHO, then everything else looks good.
Have recently visited the museums at Manston both of which are excellent. The Merlin cafe is worth the trip alone!
Hi and welcome to the forum.
You may probably already be aware that there is a FN10 at Duxford where you may be able to get the information you require. It is very accessible mounted to a very short geodetic structure.
Some pictures of the aviation hall taken in April 2014. WR960 and others with some details of the stunning building as well.

Please remember that children are a necessary……darling little dears. You will note that any application for lottery or other funding always emphasises the education program that the museum will run.
The threatened closure of MOSI and NRM was news back in June 13 and was dicuss ed in this thread http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?124607-Closure-of-MOSI-National-Media-Museum-and-National-Railway-Museum&highlight=mosi.
IIRC some funds have fairly recently been allocated and the threat of closure, if that was actually real, has supposedly past. I visited some time last year and whilst I agree the aviation side is looking tired the museum as a whole is certainly very well worth a visit.
Now IWM North is the worst museum of any sort or size I have ever visited. If I had paid money to get in I would have asked for it back.!

Over the years I have learnt that the following is true
Things are never black and white but 50 shades of grey.
Things are rarely as simple as they seem.
When you are in a deep hole stop digging.
If something appears to be too good to be true, it usually is.
Never believe what you read in any paper, check facts for yourself.
To err once is human, to err twice is stupidity.
Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.
Never, never post on a forum without checking your facts first and that your source is reliable.
Not only but also

I especially like where it says “Apple users”.
You know, the last time I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing

Well it certainly wasn’t about somebody drowning in a lake either.

Well I spent a nice day at Duxford today, what have you guys been up to?
