Not sure what the system is but there is a process regarding what are termed national treasures sold abroad whereby a period is given to allow the item to be kept in the UK by matching the sale price.
Could we not operate such a scheme with regard to engineering and industrial heritage where if the item is going for scrap interested preservation groups are given time to match the scrap price.
Hi Geoff,
Cannot say what is wrong as it works fine for me.
Suggest you copy and paste the URL directly into your browser or go to Facebook and search for Blenheim Society which is here

Disappointingly the only two “movements” of the day.
Just found a finely detailed set of images of the P38 taken in June 2014 from a drone/UAV

Thanks for posting..
Looks like it is recover now or it will be picked clean on the beach.
Seconded. I don’t think anyone who managed to see them will have any complaints, I know I don’t.
Agree whole heartedly.
Along with quite a few other people I imagine ?
I had a nice email from the CWHM, thanking me for my engine repair donation.
Indeed.
The moaning is by a couple of people, for every moaner you have many thousands of silent appreciative fans, trust me the papers,TV all had an interest which wouldn’t normally happen.
On behalf of the huge majority-thank you to everyone at the CWH
Exactly and a huge thank you to CWH
Please don’t let the pathetic whinging of a couple of members overlay the huge consensus of appreciation and pleasure we have all expressed for the unique tour.
Seconded.
Now my nose is really brown!!
Signed
Thanks for that. Have wanted to see the mirrors at Denge for some time but never in Kent at the right time. Hopefully these will be more available. Any ideas why it was thought necessary to bury them?

Presumably Mrs Gloag knows who she has got into bed with and that Messrs Musgrave and Cartner are aware of the opposition to any development of Manston as anything other than an airfield. Clearly at the end of the day they think that their legal eagles will be able to ride all over the opposition. And as PaulF says it is a private sale.
It is not clear to me how a CPO would work but I am sure that without one they will be able to successfully defeat Thanet Council over planning permission. Clearly Mrs Gloag knew the opposition to her intentions for the site before she bought it and was more than confident that she would get her way in the long term otherwise she would not have invested substantial amounts of money. Or is there money to be made from the CPO?
This could well be a very long term project and as someone has said Land Banking.
The gifting of the freehold for the museum is obviously very welcome but, like the rest of the hype just window dressing, look what nice people we are.

David and Charlie have it right. The carpers are a very small minority some of whom choose to post controversial comments in order to provoke. I have no idea why these people do it but you see it everywhere from the news to all manner of forums.
Rest assured we turned out in our thousands and are very appreciative of the huge effort that was put in for our benefit. It must be very galling in Canada to hear these few, very few, whinging poms when you did not have the privileged we had of seeing two Lancasters flying together.
No doubt we will now be told we have brown noses.
Just a reminder that contributions to the engine fund can be made on CWHM website. Let’s show our appreciation by paying for the repairs to this engine.

We have had a leaflet through the door about the development proposals for Biggin Hill Airport. Within it there is a list entitled “Our pledges to the local community”. Pledge 8 is ” Annual Festival of Flight protected-…”
They are holding Public information Display days this week in the Flying Club building however there is no more on display than there is in the leaflet. There were people to talk to though and it seems that there is a positive commitment to the annual airshow.
