My advice is pay the fine. After all you were parked illegally FACT. I know its a pain but its only £25 now but a bigger pain later at £50. But if you think you have a good case and chance of winning go ahead.

In Edinburgh I was parked I thought ok but in fact it was a no parking zone. I thought we could park because we had my partners disabled badge up and that we could park on the double yellow lines. Turns out the sign half way down the street tells you no parking and the faded yellow stripes on the kerb also tell you the same. As they were badly placed I just didnt see them or missed them. However the moral of the story is this. In Edinburgh at least they all have digital cameras and pretty good quality too and the also have a website that you can appeal against your fine. If you do so within 10 days the fine is suspended at say £25 until the investigation is complete if you the are found still guilty of said charge you then get the chance to pay the £25 for the remaining days you had left when you first appealed. Only after all the days and suspended days are over the you would have to pay the £50.

In my case they had photos of the car from all 4 angles. Photo of the reg number. Photo of the tax disc. Photo of how far away I was from the kerb. photo of the stripes on the kerb. Good thing it was a good quality camera or they would never have seen them. And a photo of the sign with my car in the distance. I am suprised they didnt photograph the bird crap on the roof too.

Anyhow know how you feel and good luck with it. I appealed and got turned down but was able to pay the lower rate. £30 I think in Edinburgh. £60 afterwards. Oh and this was on a Sunday morning too.

    Blimey,

Some people dont half talk some BS on here.

Blame everybody but the real people to blame and that is the banks and the politicians who made all the wrong decisions when things were going good. Wake up and smell the coffee.

ppp I am over 30 am I to blame?

I dont think so I go out to work every single day when I have a job. Currently unemployed because as a small business my boss could get no help from said banks or government to help out his small business which led to him closing the branch.

And when I was 18-21 I used to go to a club 3 and 4 nights a week. Thursday to Sunday and worked every day without missing a beat. When your younger you can go on less sleep anyhow.

    Who is really to blame?

Correct that man it is a Hurricane.

1/72 Academy Hurricane. Cant remember which mark right now but will look at the box when I take it out.

Its a very nice detailed kit so far as I can see. A lot nicer than the airfix on the hunter.

On that note the Hunter is coming along nicely. Quite pleased with most of it but some bits I am slightly less than impressed with. Mostly painting next. Not looking forward to it but here we go.

    Hi people,

Arthur I dont know if the underwing decals come seperate or not but that is a good call and I will check it anyhow. If they dont I can always cut them so the are seperate as I dont like a lot of clear round my decals anyway.

Here are a couple of pics of the Hunter progress so far.

Blisters attached and wings joined to the fuselage. Undercarriage has also been fixed in place.

A couple of pics of my new project just started while waiting for glue to dry. Anyone guess what it is?

The seat is not fitted yet as I thought it would be easier to paint without it.

    Night people.

    Just what I was thinking.

Some progress on the hunter tonight.

The undercarriage has been glued together and is just waiting on the wheels being painted and attached. Fuselage halves were joined last night and has been filled a little. I have also attached the tailplanes and the rudder. External store pylons have still to be attached but the attachments are ready for fitting. Next I need to fit the wings and start some painting.

I have filled most of the join lines on the fuselage but we will see how that turns out.

Photos to follow in the next couple of days when I get some time.

Just to add to the dont go with ebay feelings on the forum. Recently sold a bluetooth ear piece on ebay as it wasnt compatible with my partners phone and we couldnt be bothered taking it back to the store. I know it was working when I sent it because it worked with my phone. I dont accept returns unless there is a very good reason and I also post at the buyers own risk with such things like electronics. Well the guy says it didnt work. Now paypal have emailed me saying I have a higher than normal risk of returns and problems and I have to wait 21 days to take any of the money from my balance or receive positive feedback. I think this guy has complained but it could not be upheld because he took too long to report it but this must have triggered this off. Funny thing is that I have 100% good feedback rating not 99.6% or 95% but 100% so how is my profile a higher risk. Well anyway either advertise in Flypast or other auctioneers but do not trust the likes of ebay. I will be avoiding them now when I can.

Helping their sellers they are not. 😡

Waghorn thats some stack to get through. All hunters too. Need a hand?? 😉

Thanks Don just getting back into the hobby and trying to do a good job so I can manage to do some good display models in the future. Nice models by the way. Good Job.

Thanks Blue. I wish I could do a hunter as Miss D but alas I do not airbrush and my skills arent that good. It would drive me mad and the point of this for me is to brush up my skills and have fun.

In my collection of models to be made I have in 1/72 Corsair, Hurricane, Lysander and Sea Fury trainer. In 1/32 all in revell and 2 from TK Maxx I have Mk1 Spitfire, Mk1 Hurricane and a Bf109.

The 1/32 kits I would like to add some detailing to and make a really nice job on but we will see. The 1/72 kits are just for practice. I used to have a 1/72 Halifax but during my divorce and several moves later it got broken. Always looking for cheap kits just to make. I am going to start a few 1/48 kits too but I have to buy these yet. I am also looking for a good Mk Vb Spitfire if anyone has any tips. Looking for any scale but 1/48 or 1/32 would be better.

I cant help but think that it does not help their cause that the first website that comes up on a google search for Bovingdon airfield come up with a sunday market, Bangar racing and the words the airfield closed in 1972. Also found elsewhere the airfield shut in 1972. Now offering the airfield for hire and events.

Does little to help the suggestion that flying has continued since it was demobbed.

I know lots of runways that still exist but flying has been long since abandoned.

Good luck with the certificate anyhow. More flying fields available the better as far as I am concerned.

FW189? Decent kit if it’s the Airfix one.

Well its possible that was it. I think it was airfix but something tells me all the kits were revell. Could be wrong.

    Paul,

I too got the 1/32 Hurricane from TK MAXX yesterday and again it was 9.99. A full £6 cheaper than my LMS.

Another kit they had was the Phantom/Mirage tiger meet duo 1/72 for £14.99 and a german 1/72 twin engined aircraft for 5.99. Sorry dont remember which. Wasnt Junkers or Heinkel it was some gondola arrangement or at least a big glasshouse front.

    Andy,

I admire your professionalism in these matters and wish you well in the coming days/weeks in confirming the identity and laying another young man to his final rest.

    RIP airman.

    We will remember them.

Paul strangely I was started off as a lad using enamel paints which were almost always gloss finish. I then started using up some acrylics I had left over from a brief stint doing sci fi figure painting ie games workshop typed stuff. Not to amass an army of painted figures but I would buy one or two figures I liked and then display them. I used to quite like it when I got to painting the detailing but hated the mass paint part.

When I was using acrylics they were just what was left over from the figure painting but the colours were quite a rough match for dark earth etc. The rotting flesh colour I had was a great stand in for duck egg blue.

I have recently went back to enamels to do my 1/72 Hunter so we will see how that goes. I will experiment and see which I like and if I like one over the other I will start using whichever is better.

All my painting is by hairy stick too but I never ever get really good results like I see on here.

Also thanks for the link Paul but what I am trying to do is get more info on this forum and trying to put some content on this very underused part of the forum.

The point being if we increase the speeds shouldn’t we increase the length of the slip roads?

I would say you have a very good point there. Most slip roads give you plenty room to get up to 60/70 but some dont and for this reason you have a good point.
