The point being if we increase the speeds shouldn’t we increase the length of the slip roads?
I would say you have a very good point there. Most slip roads give you plenty room to get up to 60/70 but some dont and for this reason you have a good point.
Just bumping this subject up to the top as I have an intrest in this too.
I have always wondered about the TT mechanism on the Chesapeake too.
Thanks Arthur and Drem.
Yes Arthur the box looks like the first one. So its a bit of a better kit than I first imagined. Ok on with some practice aircraft and then will have a go at this.
Arthur,
Is there a way of telling from the box/kit if its the older or newer version I have.
When was the newer version first released. I could possibly tell this way.
I guess it would be a case of trial and error just by taking a chance on a particular brand of detailing which may or may not work out in the end.
I have seen a more realistic seat and door which I would like to use but we will see. I may just end up just fitting the standard details.
The most important reason for the airshow to continue without a doubt at Leuchars should be that it is thee only Battle of Britain at Home Day in the country and for that reason alone it should continue.
It seems to slip peoples minds at times.
Hi Cabbage,
Thanks for that. I think I have looked at the Hannants site before and it is rather good.
And yes you are perfectly correct it does depend a huge amount on what the pocket can afford. I am kinda looking for people experiance of this kit too and if anyone has cross fitted parts from another kit to get the details they wanted.
Not really sure how accurate the Revell kit is either but the options and details with it give it a fighting chance though.
Anyone else have any opinions?
Having done a little bit of ebaying I found a kit of a 1/72 chesapeake or vindicator if your American. I just missed out on it because my internet slowed right up and didnt reveal the confirm bid button until after the auction ended. It was a Pegasus kit with etched and white metal parts. Looked ok for a 1/72 kit.
I have since found an accurate minatures kit and another kit from MPM I thing it was. All of the above look better than the vac formed kit I have. Well at least easier to build anyhow. Another kit I have just found is from a company called Special Hobby.
I think I will try and get my hands on the Azur kit for my main kit but still going to go ahead with the 1/72 kit to practice a little on.
I am not the best kit maker and the next few models will be my first real attempts at a good accurateish kit build.
I have a 1/72 scale hunter which I aim to start in the next month or so. I guess the Revell 1/32 spitfire I/II will be next and then when I aquire the Chesapeake I will give it a bash.
I have never been that strict with my colours or roundel positions before only just painting the model so it looked good.
Now comes a new challenge.
Just found out from my mate that the 1/48 scale kit is from a company called Azur.
Anyone have one of these kits sitting around doing nothing. I have a project for it if you do.
It is this sort of crassness that makes the roads more dangerous than they should be. 😡
Moggy of course you are right LOL.
I am actually a very careful and considerate driver as my 20 years driving relatively problem free can testify to as well as anyone who is a passenger with me.
It just really annoys me when people think it is there god given right to be in the exact same space that you occupy at that moment in time. If I am blocked in there is nothing I can do and by the highway code it is the joining traffic that should give way not the other way round as most people seem to think. It is also on the joining traffic to be at the correct speed to enable them to join the flow of traffic without disrupting the progress of that same traffic. Ie not joining at 40mph when everyone else is doing 70mph.
I usually do let people in when I can. Sometimes I let people in front of me sometimes I speed up so they can join behind me. Depends on the situation.
And sorry your wrong I dont hog the outside lane at all. I usually end up getting stuck in the inside lane because someone going faster than 70 blocks me in and then the guy that caught up behind me meantime overtakes and UI get stuck. As I said I am quite considerate. I sometimes wish I had blue lights to pull people over with some of the stupid things I have seen though.
As for 70mph I am quite happy with it to be honest. Dont really see any point in changing it just maybe a bit more leeway with people speeding if the really want to change things. Instead of changing the limit just change the mentality behind it.
My cousin stays out in Germany and my partner asked him about the autobahn and the limitless part of it. I wasnt really interested but he said there is a part near him but a measure of responsibility is put on the driver should an accident occur because of speed. I am sure something similar could be adopted over here.
But if it speed you really want get yourself out onto a track.
Otherwise its what Kev said back up the post a bit.

Also spare a thought for those of us with older, slower cars trying to merge with 80-90mph traffic.
Just a little note on that.
Slip roads onto a motorway are not actually merge in turn as mostly everyone seems to think they are. They are actually GIVE WAY!!! roads so please spare a thought for us poor motorists who get caught in the inside lane and cannot move over to let sliproad traffic into the inside lane. I will not cause an accident for you. I will not move over for you bcause I cant and I will not slow down or speed up for you. It is up to you to give way not I.
Rant over. Sorry Hapden not having a dig at you personally just reminded me of this problem when you put merge.

I had database error messages all of Sunday.
Never really get a go slow though always round about the same speed.

Still, If you have a PPL not only will you be flying it, you will be tuning the radios, talking to people on the ground and reading a map on your lap all at the same time, even at night…………..
But when your in a car you have only a millisecond to respond to someone cutting you up or you might even be tailgating when the person in front brakes.
In an aircraft unless you are in a very crowded traffic pattern its hardly the same is it. Miles of open sky around you. But as we all know aviation has bigger consequences if you choose to disobey the rules.
