Just a quick question not knowing your background or history.
Do you currently fly and if so what.
But only answer if you want to. Just being nosey I guess but very very interested in the whole situation.
Totally stunning.
Mind you the dancing girls were not bads either.
You can never have to many historic aircraft in the air and flying at any one time.
However the sad fact is that we only ever hear see or think of the negative side when we lose one or indeed lose both machine and crew.
Pause for thought for a moment I think.
But with that said. My wholehearted support for the future of the owners project I can see why they want to do it and thats all that matters. It is their vision not ours so lets just support them no matter what we think.
Thinking of professional archaeologists at work….my favourite Time Team was the dig to recover Paul Klipsch’s Spitfire. And that took three days with not a spoon in sight. Best of luck with the project….eagerly awaiting more info.
Yes there was. The rather large spoon painted yellow that they like to disguse as a JCB.:D
And as usual if Neil is true to form he will dig a hole with a spade that any JCB driver would be proud of.
After all he is a human JCB.
Isnt that right Neil.
How about Blackpool then.
The RNLI have a place on the front. Well it is the lifeboat station after all.
Hi Matt
Im not looking to buy tools but am more interested in the brands and whether any companys or the RAF support any one paticular brand.
I remember during my army training that we not allowed to run in boots but rather trainers until the boots were well worn in but most running was done in trainers to be fair. Anyhow the brand that the army were using at the time was Hitec.

Looking at it I would go with the Defiant as they were nightfighters also and painted black as with the fabric. But were Defiants fabric covered at all I think they are metal skin all round arent they. Not that up on the Defiant I am afraid.
Also wouldnt the writing have been in red for a nightfighter.
Answer on a postcard.
“Toy plane, passenger jet in near miss”
Toy plane indeed.
I totally hate when models are called this.
When you fly a model aircraft you are under the same set of rules as any aircraft in the sky and indeed some more made up just for modellers.
As I was once corrected no not a model. It is a Miniature aircraft.
And in incidents like this they are right.
Many of the pictures that you see posted on sites like this have been taken by people who have spent years, and sometimes decades, building up their skill and experience.
Non-SLR cameras (like the Kodak and Panasonic range) – even those that look like DSLRs – cannot and do not produce the same image quality as a DSLR.

Very good points there and 2 things I didnt really think about until after my post. Regards the skill involved etc I have been guilty for many years now of not learning the trade properly seems like I never have the time in between doing other things and that is why my success rate is something like 15 to 20 % of the photos are useable and that I like them although I never delete any photos unless they are of feet etc ie gone off prematurely. 🙂
A point about look alike SLR yes they do not have the same quality but I use a Fuji Finepix and if I learnt how to use it properly then no doubt there would be some stunning photos from it. This is what my budget could afford. I plan to go onto a Canon or alike but for the minute I will stick with the Fuji. At my level it does everything I want it to and its easy to operate and light. Decent Zoom on it as well.
Anyhow I am going off the subject so will stop there.
Good luck with your purchase and do let us know how you get on and the results and your photos when you have them.
Oh one other good point is Dont go for a big capacity memory card go for several smaller ones ie 1 or 2 Gig because if you lose a big memory card with thousands of photos in it you will curse yourself. Not so bad if you have a card with a hundred or so photos in it.
By losing the card I mean it failing on you and not physically lost but I guess it amounts to the same thing.
And always back up to disc or something as soon as you can then you hav 2 copies stored.
Well I would tend to go more for something like a Canon Eos 400D for starting out with and see where you want to go from there.
The reason being that the 400D is quite a reliable product now having gone through its teething stages and is quite a common camera to get lenses and other add ons for. Lenses and other parts should be cheaper due to how common a camera its is as people need to make their prices more appealing to get the business as there is more competition.
Littlewoods online came up with this.
Although this does give you quite a small lens only 18-55 lenses are quite cheap for this camera and a decent second hand one wont cost an arm and leg.
Sigma Canon fit lens
This is the way I think I would do it. Others may disagree but listen to everyone the choose what you think will best suit your needs.
As Robert says there was no restoration project for the Beaufighter.
There was however work carried out on the parts when the Spitfire was being restored at the latter stages prior to it moving in the Transport Museum in Glasgow and then onto Kelvingrove.
I think it was hoped the museum would raise enough money to fund the Spitfire people going onto restoring the Beaufighter next but this never happened. The APSS were also interested in restoring the Beaufighter but the museum have or at least had other ideas.
The only ones who will know about this now are the ones at the museum.
Why not give them a call and push them on a little.
I had the same problem as Der with the 2006 Leuchars DVD.
It was on special offer though and at the show if you preordered it you got the Red Arrows DVD free. I waited and then asked if I could have the Red Arrows DVD while I waited on the Leuchars DVD. I got the Red arrows DVD in the post a couple of days later. After waiting a while longer I eventually got the Leuchars DVD and low and behold another Red Arrows DVD which my brother now has. It will be worth the wait but I think production problems were blamed and the delivery but I dont really remember.
But this is what happens if you go out filming all the time and dont do your production runs regular enough.
