First thing would be to contact Hendon to see if they have the airfield plan for the place ands if they have then get a copy. If it is a good copy then you will know what they were calling it back then.
Or you could contact the ARG (Airfield Research Group)
some of their members might know what it is off hand.
http://www.airfield-research-group.co.uk/
have fun. If you get the map I know that either Hendon or NA have the plan of the actual design of the building which will be coded on the map.
You have a PM Phil.

Hi Jim,
can you mail me with regard to the Hawker Hunter Colour Photo post that you posted on.
I am not gone or no longer with us yet as some members might have been lead to think but still here and alive and kicking.
I dont post on here much due to various reason but I will post when I see someone needing info that I have or if I see something I feel I should comment on.
my email is scott.mcintoshATacia.co.uk
replacing the AT with @ in the correct place of course.
I would like to talk to you about XG236 and the wreckage.
regards Scott McIntosh
To hope that someone would eventually come along with the funds to display a cold war relic is praiseworthy and shows a faith in the assumption that everything will turn out fine (largely unseen since the times of the early Christian martyrs) but a bit too optomistic for the hard facts of today’s aviation, business, and advertising worlds.
So guys Red Bull colour scheme it is then!!
Hi David,
firstly I am not telling anyone not to post what gives me the right after all. Isnt that why we have fought wars in the past freedom of speech and expression. And it is not a case of loyalty towards TVOC either I am just simply tired of seeing the same posts with the same dicussions. Your mention of pertinent questions is a very valid point, maybe this time we need some answer before any more hands go into pockets but that depends on what questions need answering I would certain say that TVOC would need to be held to account on the finances of the project.
I may have painted everyone with the same brush when I posted the armchair comment but it was aimed at the naysayers that are just hiding behind their computer and tv screens. I do however realise that there are people like yourself who have put aircraft back in the air unlike myself and to me that is a great acheivement. But TVOC need to be recognised to have taken on an ambitious project of its grands scale and even through finacial worries they have managed barely to put the rabbit out of the hat. Lets hope they can do it one more time. Having come this far I would not like to see the vulcan grounded just because the everyone, Me included just turned round and said nope I have paid enough into the pot and I aint giving another bean. Else why do we keep any old aircraft in the sky.
I think the comment of oh well its spent now is a little unfair to say about TVOC as I dont think that any donation no matter how small has been thought about in that way.
And if they have then there is still the ground and air crew who will think of it as more than that.
What more do I say than repeating myself. Nothing more to say really.
my point really was about the repeat post just really boring the pants of people on the forum as it is not like we havent all heard it before.
I never formed an opinion about whether it would or wouldnt fly but I certainly hoped it would for the sake of aviation history and the british public to see such a great sight as the Vulcan taking to the air again.
Is it safe to come out of the shelter yet been down here for hours.
Sorry guys I havent had enough time to read every single word of everyones post so sorry to all if I am just saying what has been said.
firstly the mention of her being sent or sold to America.
utter tripe. I am sure if we look at the lottery funding document etc etc that you will see that great lengths were gone to for securing her future after she had run out of flight hours and I am fairly certain that an airfield or museum was named for her retirement. I remember it being in the lottery funding clause that although the owners of the aircraft can restore and fly her that the lottery tied in that she would be the peoples aircraft in the post flight period.
Perhaps they could Nationalise the bloody thing like Northern Rock!
Kev I think you may have the answer there mate. seems like a great way to spend a couple of millions of our tax money on mate.
I never ever wanted to own a bank but a vulcan thats something nice!!
As someone else had pointed out why do we have to have the same bollox discussion about this every time they have funding problems.
can we just leave it at those who want to help and donate or raise money for the project then please do continue your sterling work.
and
those who think that it wont make it just sit on your armchairs and watch the news for the outcome one way or the other because quite frankly this is starting to get boring. same dicussions same questions same answers.
lets just either help out or push off.
Dons flak jacket and tin hat and am off to the anderson shelter 3 streets away.:)
Does anyone know who the owner is of the aircraft at Errol?
Going on what I have seen on the net tonight at a guess I would think it would belong to the Morris Leslie Group.
try posting on the old Halibag forum.
It is still active and he has been spotted lurking about there sometimes.
I dare say a direct Ian Foster thread would bring him out of hiding.

Hi Allan,
This is exactly the sort of thing I am talking about.
With the Gosford site I found out later that the whole landing ground was given a miss in favour of Macmerry airfield being used as a Civil and Commercial site. Also a lot of info in Flight about various other civil airfields.
Anyone else found long lost information in the flight archive or other archives.
The one book that I treasure over all the book I have is actually a RAF Manual.
It is the “Manual of Administration in the Royal Air Force”
It was owned by one Wing Commander G D Blackwood who was the first commander of a Cezch squadron if my memory serves me correct and I dont have to dig out all the info. He was also related to the Blackwoods in Edinburgh that published the Blackwoods magazine that was well known.
It is in original condition and in good nick considering it is only bound with string and hard paper covers.
Outside it has his name written in red ink and inside it has glued in many ammendments to procedures in the RAF also many hand written amendments.
Dont know how much it would be valued at and dont really care but it would be nice to know what people valued it at as a collectable or indeed resource.
Incidentally I bought it for £20 in a local book shop although it is priceless to me.
Is there an exhibit on view anywhere in the UK, does anyone know?
Dont know if this counts but The Museum of Flight at East Fortune have a Morane Saulnier MS 505a Criquet which is a French built Storch. It is painted up as a Storch in German markings
And therein perhaps lies the difference, many of us don’t need a line in someone’s signature to remind us exactly who and what Steve was and what he actually meant to his family and countless friends.

Hi Kev,
Just simply not what was meant at all.
I didnt know Steve at all apart from the forum and when he was gone you truely just sont know what you had until it was gone. For me that was true of him and of others that are now no longer with us. I sometimes need a little kick up the backside just to remember and take a moment to think. I had hoped to meet you all the next year at Legends but alas my trip was planned too later to meet the man himself.
Anyhow back to what the thread was really about.
I heard that TOM-TOM have recalled 50000 sat navs because :-
They couldnt find England anywhere in Europe.
LOL
Better luck next time lads we were all done out a another good couple of games when England and Scotland got put out.

WHY?????
Isn’t it still quite touching that Steve’s contribution to this forum ,made such an impact for some folks to remember him in their signatures.
Well said,
I dont find it upsetting at all that the signature bears Steves name if fact it makes me remember the guy.
However I can see what you are getting at.
Diffrent people diffrent ways of looking at things.

Just don’t try and force other people to do the same.
That would be a dictatorship you are talking about then wouldn’t it mate.
We are FREE to a certain extent now just take a minute to consider why.
Every one of the signature were signed willing and knowing what the men and woman that have gone before did for us. Those who want to remember such dates should be allowed and not told to move on or whatever.
We as a nation should be a lot more free that we actually are and so it passes our government are passing more and more laws that inhibit our freedom to live in our own country.
I am sorry but sometimes I feel our own country is losing its way in what the brave souls were actually fighting for.
