Gary,
Quite personally when the elm street series came out the were a little scary for me as I was a lot younger then but now I think they are quite funny. Still scary in places but its quite funny how we can be scared at picture on a screen. Our own imaginations do the rest really. So what I am saying is that we should laugh at our selves.
After I saw Kabirs joke I must admit I did jump a little, well who wouldnt with their nose pressed up against the screen to see what the bloody number was so after that I had to laugh at it as it was indeed a class bit of humour.
Hey guys,
I heards this “Rumour” over two years ago and it was fact then. the aircraft is actually in a pretty bad state due to the sea air around that area. Although they are a few miles inland the sea air does get up that far and this with the rain and damp conditions make it even worse for it. Instead of going for the email to the museum of flight who hav no control of what stays or goes really. Why not send your emails of disgust direct to the National Museums of Scotland why in my own opinion dont really give a **** about what goes on in our aviaation museum and who year after year cut the budget for the M of F. If you had only heard what they have planned for the Vulcan. The last conversation I had with a Staff member (it is better if we dont mention names in case the NMS get rid of the only people that care) said that after the Comet was reduced to a cockpit that the vulcan wouldnt really be that far behind as it was struggling with the corrosion.
A good idea would be to ask uncle Keith Mac about corrosion on an airframe and I am sure you will find although everything looks great outside inside sometimes is held together with bubblegum.
I dont like the idea of the best aircraft down there rotting into a hole in the ground but with little or no money for investment in the museum what chance do they stand. PETITION THE NMS.
Incidently I was down at the East Fortune road races today and looked over to the museum and they had a crowd of people in and it looked great to see all those cars there.
Help Scotland keep it aviation history alive petition the NMS.

Liked that one a lot Kabir as it has you looking close into the sceen to see what the number is and whn you click to enter anything because you cant see a number !!!!!!!!!
Well lets have you good people out there have a go for yourself. I liked it.

Thanks for the words guys.
I was told by the MOD that I needed a firearms certificate for the ammo I had which was 2 x 35mm shell heads and a 303.
All of which are spent. I checked with the civil police at Fettes. Lothian and Borders HQ and they said they knew of no such thing and that I should get in contact with the MOD involved and ask why I needed a licence as as far as the Police were concerned after a round is spent its is just a chunk of metal.
I still need to contact the MOD.
I think they were trying the frigteners on me but I dont know.
I know the 35 mm shells were capped but these were training round but they could have been High explosive and this would have been illegal. I dont mind them taking the casing away as it could have had a detonator on it.

Merlin,Sorry you don’t appreciate the humour! But this is the first time I’ve seen it, so I guess one or two others haven’t. If you read the top it says USAAF, nothing about Quantas.

Neilly,
I think you misread my post. I actually find this Humour very very funny. Its a great laugh.
What I said in my post was meant to mean. Dont take it personally but the post has been seen several times. And I hoped you didnt think I was being funny towards you personally.
I didnt say I didnt find the humour funny.
Hope thats that sorted.
If I am not mistaken these were actually from a Quantas flight crew and ground crew or do we just get these repeated with all / any flight crew names on it.
Not being funny towards you personally Neilly but it has been posted as Quantas before and is on their website if I remember correctly.
Sorry Neilly,
This has been already organised for April and already quite a few have organised their weekend around it. This put with the fact that the contributors have organised to have the time to come down here is another factor why it cant be put off. The main reason being we have already organised it with the Museum of Flight at East Fortune. Or should I say Keith Mac organised it with them. So really it is all set to go but everyone is welcome.
Hi Zippo,
I was actually looking for a four bladed prop but I still might use your one.
Thanks for the reply.

Talking of Beaufighters, I wonder if there’s any chance of the nice people at MoF letting us into the restoration hangar to take a peek at RD220?
Hi Steve,
There was talk of us being allowed access to the Restoration area when Keith talked with the acting curator now acting general manager. But who knows that might all be changed during the day but no doubt the M of F staff will do their best by us to let us see the restoration hangar as it is by prior notice that anyone can view this hangar.
Should be a good day. My Brother and Dad are coming to the meet as is a guy who lived at Drem when the war was on. His father was chief electrical engineer for Drem airfield and it was him and a spitfire pilot who pioneered the Drem Lighting System.
A very interesting guy to talk to. Full of other stories as well. He had 609 pilot Peter Drummond-Hay and his wife and 2 dogs living with him at the time.
Only one other thing to say Steve. If you are coming to the meet and want to photo the beau bring a bloody good camera and flash as it is very dark in the restoration hangar.
Cheers

we dont do that on weekdays Alastair. Weekends are entirely different.
Why does a haggis (a small highland creature) have 2 legs on the same side shorter than the ones on the other side of its body?
Answer :- so it can run round hills faster.
I know an ex-146 driver now a Fokker 100 driver. I will ask him next time I see him about the nose down attitude.
a bit late to flare out unless they are trying to keep the airspeed up and are already at a very flat angle then you would be able to get away with a late flair from that position.
Just my take on things.
Hi Damien,
I was about to say to you that you were a bloody fool or something along those lines for not knowing what a Boulton Paul Overstrand was but please accept my most humble apologies I read the post properly and see what you meant.
