    RE: Scottish

    Hi guys.

As you know I am near Edinburgh. Tranent to be exact. If anyone doesnt know where that is I usually ask them if they know Musselburgh race course and the answer is usually yes. So there you go.

I know Keith Mac is north of the border and by North I mean NORTH. I am sure he will tell us where he is based next time hes on the forum.

I wonder why East Fortune dont try and stage more shows during a year. I think it would be more that possible.

Also I wonder when the will bring in the Friday night part of the show again so we get to see the aircraft up close. I really missed that from this years show. Some times it was the best part of the show for me.

I didnt know thhat there was a specific fund for Mark Hanna. I only knew of the Burns fund that was given as the families selected fund for donations. And as it had been talked about before on this forum I supplied the details of what I though people wanted. Namely the burns fund.

Sorry for any confusion and Ashley perhaps you should write to the Hanna family unless the details I gave you were the ones you wanted.

    Hi Ashley,

The fund for burns picked by the Hanna family is listed below. I got this from flypast when the accident happened. I have it listed on my site as part of the East Fortune airfield page as Mark performed there many times. The first link is to the page where a small tribute to Mark is. If you go there you will see the at the bottom of the page the small tribute to Mark and the Address of the fund.
The next link is a link to the rest of my site for any interested parties.
And I included the address for those who want it.

RE: So, what will be the must see shows next year?

Guys if any of you can get up to Scotland this year then dont miss the museum of flights Festival of flight.

For those who dont know it. The airfield is authentic WW 2. 90% still intact. The aircraft dont land or take off there because of the farmer/safety to the crowd but turnhouse is only 40 mins by car and about 5 mins in a decent aircraft. For smaller aircraft there is a local strip which is only minutes away. We see regular sightings of the Se5a,Scottish Aviation Bulldog, pitts special, Extra 300, yak team,Hawker Hunter,BBMF, Reds,Utterly Butterly Barnstormers, ASK glider display, the RAF falcon parachute display team and the list goes on.

We have a broad range of aircraft from Great war to second world war to jet age to modern day aerobatics. The show is quite unique. It failed a little last year on the ground display but I think it was partly to do with Legends being on the same day. Hope its on a different day this year.

any way search for East Fortune on the web and have a look at their site. Well worth the read.

RE: They all look good !

We Had the BBMF up here in Scotland this year and this is the first time I have actually seen here fly. It was a real pleasure to see her fly. If a lot of you see her at every other show you should think of us who dont get to see her that often and think how lucky you are to see this compared with us and stop all the bitching about this isnt right or that isnt right. For all intents and purposes it is the BEST LANC FLYING. In my opinion and seeing as it the only uk flying lanc it has no competition. I personally think that all the guys at BBMF do a great job and congratulate them on it. If it were not for them we would not have a UK flying lanc. So think on next time you go to say something about something is not right. One time the government might take what you say serious and then cut the budget for the BBMF and you will have NO FLYING lancs in this country as it will sit in some museum and rot away.

Also I dont think it matters if we have hybrids flying at all as long as the pick one of the aircrafts id and use it then there sholud be no problem. It is what an aircraft portrays in its flight and the memory of the pilots who flew and gave their lives we should be thinking off not this is one aircraft and that is a piece of another. THATS NOT RIGHT.

It is this kind of thinking that will be our downfall.

Thanks for that pic again Ken.

You just stirred my memory of a great day had by all. Just a pity I ran out of film before I had finished taking photos.

Thanks guys that info was just what I was looking for.

As I said I was only a kid but recently I remembered what show it was on and so I thought I would ask the question.

Just out of interest does anyone else know of any other aircraft off the coast of Jersey.

I am not asking you to give away locations etc just a brief I know there is a ?????? kind of answer I know a lot of people like to keep these things to their selves and quite rightly so if thats what they wish.

    Regards Scott

If anyone is interested in wrecks in the sea in general. There is a book that gives a comprehensive list of aircraft lost off Scotland as well as boat and ship wrecks. It is indeed called Off Scotland and is by Ian Whittaker. I can vouch for this book as I have read it. It is a really good data book indeed one of the finest. Get it out the library before going to buy it as it comes in at £40 and would be a pity if it were not what you were looking for.
Also you can view amendments and updates to the book on the Off Scotland web site just search the web with the title and you will find it.

    RE: Ghosts

    Hey guys

A good discussion thread if I ever seen one.

Well for my own experiances how about these.

Recently ie the last 6 months I have seen quite a few shadows about the house but one in particular that always appears at the same time each night. I was sitting in my living room and just about the lamp in the corner of the room I saw a shadow move from left to right. I thought it may have been a car passing but about 3 months later the same was happening but now every night at the exact same time and I would actually wait for it happening and it would. Also by now the road I live in is shut off to the public and even we cant walk in the front street.

The second is that the bathroom door keeps getting left open. When I am in the house at night and no one else is up I go to the bathroom and close the door when I come out. When I go back through it is open. No body can get up without you knowing about it you can hear them a mile off.

Oranaments move without you touching them the toilet has flushed when we were both in bed bu thought it may have been our boy up so I went to tell him to get into bed and his door was closed and he was asleep and there was no way he could have shut the door behind him because I had to be right behind him after he was at the toilet. Which it turned out he wasnt.

My girlfriend had holes in her tshirt that she wore a lot and none of us did it.

there are occasionally strange smells around the place and the odd strange noise but that isnt unusual being in a housing scheme.

it would seem that we do have friendly ghosts that like practical jokes and other harmless fun so the dont get to me at all I just get the hairs on the back of my neck and head standing up when I talk about it and that really cold feeling but I think this is your bodies reaction to talking about something spooky.

Where did you see this window fitted? Is it in a old photo or on

    ***a modern warbird?***

Good call Ant this would make sense if it was a modern warbird as a lot of pilots make this mod for u/c position and other reasons.

I would guess that a window in the floor of a carrier based aircraft would be to help with carrier deck landings. Especially in the early days when landings were a bit dicey.

RE: Whats the speed of Dark ?

Back to the speed of gravity for a sec.

I was always taught that, as somebody has already pointed out, gravity is a force.

A mass is forced by gravity to the Earth. A mass will also be forced to the earth when it has fallen or is seperated from the earth. ie jumping off a building or from an aircraft. A mass will accelerate and gain a maximum speed through the air because of the forced applied by gravity. This would mean that gravity is a constant force and a mass travelling aided by gravity would gain a max speed and therefore a constant speed.

makes sense the way I read it but there it is
