Fantastic photos – but not that old, please!;) These and a bit earlier are what I grew up with and will always resonate more than modern aircraft.
Well, no more than I expected, I suppose, in view of previous comments, so I will now leave this thread for others to wrangle over.

I intended to leave this thread but I cannot allow this to go without comment. Every action each of us makes is motivated for some reason and the reaction to that action, likewise. Not to be aware of that and not to be interested in it smacks of extreme narrow-mindedness. However repellent an act it is deserving of understanding, which, might, contribute to preventing other similar acts.
In our own sphere of interest it would be like not investigating the causes of an appalling fatal aircraft accident. We need to understand why it happened.

This argument is now just going round and round and round. Statistics on crime are frequently suspect and I doubt they are any better in the USA. So, I am afraid that offers me no retraction of my “black, white, grey” thesis.
In fact I find it quite disturbing that life can be viewed by some in such stark extremes.
But I’ll get off this roundabout now unless someone has something new to contribute, other than the now repeated mantra of “they were 10 but knew exactly what they were doing as adults so should have been punished accordingly, and for some by execution”.

At least we’re not getting personal…..:p

If you can’t see grey then I cannot comment further other than to say that to see black and white is only to see extremes. Life is made up of complexity and enigma and however beautiful or however terrible an experience or an act, it is never just black or just white.

Good grief – caricatures of all of us! Well, some of us………….;)

I can’t see that I have suggesting anything like that. Nor have I seen any post implying more sympathy for the perpetrators than the victim’s family.
I just do not see the whole awful affair as being black or white, as most do in this thread. Brutal child murder so hang the b***ds, or worse, is the general sense of most of the contributions here.
