Typical EU empire building – let them both manage on EU airlines! Shouldn’t this be in Commercial, for what it’s worth.
And the latest poll of the marginal seats puts both parties on 38%. I wonder if both we and the parties set too much store on these endless polls. As someone once said the only one that matters is in on election day.

I think most of us could write the scripts beforehand. They will achieve little and certainly won’t affect how I vote. The problem is that they will focus people’s minds on the leaders and little else, whereas the election should be about policy and implementation. That is, which party is best suited to drag us from the financial black hole into which we have been toppled.

Wrong thread methinks……………..
This is all huffing and puffing. I doubt that anyone knows where Bin Laden is or even if he is alive. Any posturing is for political reasons and should be seen in that context. And, of course, intelligence agencies have been vying with each other at the same time as cooperating with each other since the 16th century.

The more I read about this technology the more I wonder why it has not been developed. There must be good technical/commercial reasons why we cannot cross the Channel in one in 10/15mins, to take just one example.
Can anyone enlighten me?
I think you were right in your original post. The drive towards quieter, more fuel efficient engines would have eventually driven her from the skies. The tragedy for Concorde, far greater than the crash, excepting the loss of life, of course, was the intractability and reluctance of other countries to capitalise on Concorde’s then advanced technology and potential.
She could have flown supersonic on certain overland routes as well as over the sea but the negative attitude of key nations including the USA precluded her from ever maximising her potential.
Very interesting. Thanks for that. If things had turned out differently do you think these aircraft would have had a future or was the application of the technology limited?
A truly extraordinary machine. How long did it serve and how successful was it? Or wasn’t it?!
Wonderful photos! That must have been a day to remember – the conditions looked perfect. Never been in a balloon but must try to get aloft this year.:)
Scorcese’s “The Age of Innocence” and Julian Mitchell’s “Another Country”. Both excellent and although old films I had never seen either before.
