We have been able to see certain areas for several months – it is only now released as 99% coverage. Google Maps have been high res for a long time so details of properties and garden have been available. It’s no big deal, is it? A bit of fun, with little practical application and with which people will probably get bored after a few months until the next bit of technology comes along.

But what really turns the knife in is the fact that our beleagured Prime Minister has announced NO increases for most of our key public sector employees. If that isn’t blatant hypocrisy, I don’t know what is. And not a peep from the media.

What do you mean by un relaition to the old airfield, I can’t spot a new or old one anywhere, even on Google maps. Where are the aircraft going to be flying from, Abbeville possibly?
This link illustrates the location between Wissant and Audembert.

If you click on Historique and scroll down the photos to the last one that shows overlays of the 850m grass strip across a couple of fields. It also shows the layout of the exhibits divided into Luftwaffe, RAF and USAF. Shuttle buses will ferry visitors from the car park to the display area.
Let me know if you need any further clarification.
On the website click on Information Visiteurs and there is a series of photos and a map showing the location in relation to the old airfield very clearly. If you are still having problems I’ll link you to a Google map.
I read a lot of contradictory posts here about the RAF Museum. As one who has to share out visits sparingly I want to make the most effective use of my time in the UK. I have already earmarked North Weald and Bletchley Park and another Duxford visit and probably Biggin Hill in the summer. I haven’t been to Hendon for years and years, so would it be worth my while?
I think Nirav is spot on. The only differernce between us being that I don’t believe anyone knows where Bin Laden is or if he is indeed still alive.

Was that a slap on the wrist, or did it just feel like it?:(
I love being reminded on this forum of events and aircraft half forgotten. It seems that there is at least one still flying – or more? It would be fun to see one at an airshow this summer.
Look at the link provided in the original post – it has very detailed information.
This stirs some very fond memories. Haven’t been there for about 35 years, when I had a house in Marsaskala for a while – I don’t recall much aviation history at the time. BEA Vanguards and the odd Comet were the main modes of transport there, I seem to remember.
This looks like terrific value for money and rather shames some events in the UK. And it’s 20 mins from my house, so that weekend is booked!
Great story. Inevitably and sadly there are fewer and fewer of these marvellous servicemen still with us.
