Or do you avoid these problems by having a UK Royal Military Service under which there were land, air and sea divisions staffed and serviced with men and materiel as required? Ownership, as it has been termed, would not be a problem becauae all materials and hardware would be “owned ” by the Service.

All of them sound equally interesting for different reasons. From time to time the Beeb really does do what it should be doing!

That was one of those classic “one-offs”, which arer never forgotten even though the performers are. I know nothing more of Jimmy Dean so thanks for remembering him.

Just a few weeks ago, out shopping with Mrs C, I came within a whisker of passing a favourable comment on another woman’s backside.

Well, I suppose we all have our own idea of the grim reaper but this is not one that had previously occurred to me.;)

It was a £200 million sop by Blair to the Republicans to get the Good Friday agreement – nothing more, nothing less. And if there is the slightest suggestion that soldiers are to be prosecuted it will be nothing more than an outrage after the release, again a sop to the Republicans, of dozens of IRA murderers.

It has been a massively expensive waste of money, time and resources and will have achieved nothing worthwhile.
