Ah, that makes more sense – I had not re-read the quote.
Bloody shame seeing that. I’d really hoped to see it at Duxford.
Blaming the engine’s origin is a bit irrelevant – let’s face it, ANY engine could give up on its pilot at any moment. It just takes that one wee thing….
Didn’t the pilot say he had had engine problems on 12 previous occasions?
EGPH can answer for himself, but in general, I would suggest that objectivity is in relatively short supply when it comes to the problems of Ulster.

Is that in fact true?
Did anyone honestly expect that the massively expensive Saville enquiry would come to any other conclusions? I think it highly unlilely that any criminal action will be brought and the chances of success of any civil action after nearly 40 years are remote.
The “troubles” in Ulster are behind us but resentents are still harboured. There are republicans who will never be satisfied until Ireland is united. However the realities of the 21st century are that it won’t happen and we have a form of peace in Ulster now and it is better that everyone learns to live with the peace they have, however much some feel aggrieved.
Saville is over. It should now be forgotten. Consigned to the massive dustbin of Irish history.

Yes, I was just thinking, reading this thread, that we are but a microcosm of the big, bad world so how many people, just in the UK, have flirted with death and lived to tell the tale? Thousands, probably……….
