I’m now in a pub in Ringwood. Why oh why oh why do you insist on serving your beer flat dead and lifeless down here in the south???
Obviously the wrong pub…….;) Where did you say you were going to take a look at when you were darn sarf?
There are more than 20 names on the list including the most senior serving officers and a host of civil servants, none of whom, by their titles would seem to be involved in procurement.
Brilliant.:D:D Just wondered if a certain member of your family knew what you had in mind…….;)

Mmm – there’s a thought, or just leave her chinwagging with the relatives…:diablo:

Yes, I realised that, hence my post. And I am also only too aware of the numbers who died, as you say, in the care of the Allies. We were just not equipped to deal with the sheer numbers and no doubt that photo could have been duplicated in many other areas, as the Allies advanced.
Oh, how I can empathise with that! Other halves, unless exceptionally generous, certainly cramp the aspirations of dedicated hobbyists. But it gets easier after 40 years, so now I am rediscovering some of what I’ve missed.
And your “smiles” come through most of your posts.:):) With bits of family still around Yorkshire a trip is not out of the question but how long can I persuade Mrs RH to spend absorbing the touch and smell of a Victor??;)

No one without detailed knowledge can answer that question, not that that prevents treams of suggestions in the thread. My statement was rhetorical but making the point that the MoD is patently oversubscribed with highly paid senior civil servants. The axe has to fall – that is inevitable, and I hope that Mr Fox and his advisors make sure that we end up with the hardware and personnel we need to do the job the Government decides we need to do over the next decade or more. And I would like to think that the military will represent the best case for all three services rather than intensive lobbying by each service for its own best interests.
‘231 excepted, of course – she’s a beaut. I never get “oop north” these days but should I ever do so I must call by YAM and pay my respects. The closest I get to that sublime shape these days is the nose section of XL190 at Manston!:)

Then you do have the good fortune. It is a very “nostalgic” picture.:)
Having seen that the MoD have more senior officials paid in excess of £150,000 p.a. than any other governemnt department I think we know where the axe should fall first!
I only use a good phone camera and have downloaded an app which takes good mono and sepia images.
