    Moggy, I’ve only just caught up with this thread. Is that a Citroen 11 about second from the left in your estimable line-up? Define petrol head – are you sure you aren’t one? Just a collector, perhaps.:)

    I thought that the lack of information about the actual flying displays and the poor communications were disappointing. At a fiver for a car and free if you were on foot my expectaions were not too high but nevertheless I am sure it could have been better organised. And the sun shone in time for the flying and when he finally got off the ground we were treated to Dan Griffith’s usual stunning display of the Spirit of Kent.

    Wonderful pictures and especially good juxtapositions of old and new. I love the Hunter, a great favourite, and the Dove and the Pembroke and the rest. And what marvellous weather!:)

    I wrote Dove but meant Heron – but I always felt they were just such pretty aircraft and I had the pleasure of rides in both many years ago.

    Extraordinary photos. I think the aerial of the thousands of POWs is the most evocative.
