RE: Name 5 countries you would like to visit most!
Kfadrat,
I definitely recommend Yugoslavia as a travel destination!

RE: Name 5 countries you would like to visit most!
1. Russia (appears to be quite a popular choice – we should all get organised and go together)
2. Turkey/Greece (I really wanna visit both but couldn’t fit them both in the top 5 so I’m cheating)
3. Iran (kinda wanna do a tour of ancient Persia)
4. China (could probably spend years here and still miss lots of amazing stuff)
5. India (see bracketed comment for number 4. China)

RE: SA80 to stay
I remember hearing that some special forces troops in Afghanistan used AK-47s but can’t remember if the chaps in question were US or UK.
Re: The SA80; The defense establishment has now spent too much money developing, procuring and upgrading the SA80 to back down in favour of a foreign rifle. Originally the SA80 was developed in order to provide Brittish armed forces with a rifle displaying a “Made in Great Britain” sticker rather than with one that could out perform the competition (otherwise the Galil or the M-16 would have been selected).

RE: WORLDS MOST POWERFUL NATIONS – 2003!!!
“Also the range for Moskit is rather larger than 100km… it also entered service before the Falklands war so it is hardly cutting edge technology… though the US would like to test a few.”
A conflict in which the Brits deployed ships with the most modern air defense equipment only to be defeated by Skyhawks dropping out-dated free-fall bombs.
Being current and up-to date isn’t always what matters most.

RE: User names
Boringly enough “I.N.K.” are my initials. When some friends at Uni discovered this I was called ink or inky for weeks – until they got bored of it (it was during this time that I became a member of the forum).

RE: Iraq : who’s in?
“Can anyone give me some reasonable explenations why Russia is not allowed to fight the terrorists on its own soil”
Geforce,
Its because the soil of Chechnya is soaked in a particularly high quality and quantity of crude oil and the soil of Georgia lies on the route of a proposed US pipeline (carrying Caucasian oil to the Black sea from where it can reach the US as quickly and cheaply as possible).
