haavarla,
It is somewhat difficult to measure the position of forward comp fan, but i think you are a bit off there..
Then show me where you think the comp face should be.
Jō Asakura
Precise compressor face placement is very difficult as the engines are canted inwards and downwards
I know they are but this doesn’t make it impossible. The red circles I drew in are lined up with, as far as I can tell, the ends of the engine nacelles.
but interestingly if you compare to the engine core pic below, then the port engine’s comp.face would be totally head-on in the pic you used.
What does “totally head-on” mean? If you think they should be in a different place to where I drew them, open paint, select the circle tool and away you go.
does this look about right?
Amazing models Ken!
C’mon Ken, don’t leave us hanging like that, what’s the other one? 😀
Can we please let this pointless thread die?
Swerve, I’m surprised you even bothered to correct some any of the cr@p in here.
[disclaimer]I think that cockpit visibility is important and also think the Russians haven’t always got it right (often due prioritising other factors)[/disclaimer]
That said, some of you seem to be missing the point that in every modern combat aircraft if the pilot turns his head directly to his 6 o’clock, he will be looking at the back of his ejection seat. It doesn’t really matter then if there is some other part of the aircraft between the back of the ejection seat and the missile/enemy aircraft/wingman/whatever the pilot was trying to see because he wouldn’t be able to see it anyway, due to the back of the ejection seat being in the way.
What is the current status of this project?
Current status of project: Forget about it!
Officially the Ministry is in ongoing negotiations with producer countries but in reality Serbia is in no position financially to progress with this. The only way forward would be to pay for new jets with a loan (probably from the producer country). If they did that I would be on the next plane back to Belgrade so I could get out onto the streets to protest against the move.
the air intake at the top is going to be troublesome at high AOA, feeding turbulent air to the engine
this won’t be so much of an issue if it’s intended to be a ground attack aircraft, a la F-117.
And even then funding the Il-476/478/A-100 was a mistake anyway.
please not this again.
Has Sukhoi explored the idea of Silent Eagle-style conformal weapons bays for the PAK-FA?
and as a retrofit for Flanker variants… man would i like to see that. i wonder if there are any technical reasons why it isn’t feasible
bloody swiss! 😡
only joking – if i had the chance, i too would try to impound the Su37 :diablo:
Thanks GrM, this is interesting but, with all due respect, I don’t buy it. Or rather, the Peruvians won’t.
has anyone figured out why there are two pak-fa threads? its confusing and pointless.
Verrrry nice, but why is there an F-16 behind?
that’s the target!
