Phantom,
“Yes, but only to a certain extent and at the very end.”
So what you’re saying is that the cheese-eating-surrender-monkeys saved your asses? Surely you wouldn’t have fries, let alone “freedom fries” if it wasn’t for the French? 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Anyone able to tell me a little more about French involvement? Did the send troops or weapons? What exactly happened?

Didn’t the French significantly help the “Americans” in their war of independence from the British?

Just couldn’t stop myself from recalling a memorable scene from Tears of the Sun:
Towards the end of the film two F-18s take off from a USN carrier without a single external store between them, then as they fly over the ocean they occasionally have drop tanks or switch back to nothing hanging off the hard-points. Finally, as they approach the target they magically grow some Harpoons which they fire off like unguided rockets and which explode with the effect of about twenty cluster bombs.

I’m sorry Sean, I have to disagree. The studios, producers etc spent millions of dollars and paid some decent actors and special effects directors, not to mention researchers and script writers and all they could come up with was that? For christ’s sake, they got so much wrong that I wouldn’t even know where to start…. Not to mention that even ignoring all the stuff they did wrong, the story line was pants and harldy worth bothering with. Also, the acting, even on Bruce’s part, was shockingly bad but then you can’t blame Bruce, he had to deal with a tragic script (although perhaps he should have thought of that when he took the part).
Ok, so I too enjoyeed the explosive stuff but apart from that there’s not much I can see about that movie that was good.

Thanks for that constructive contribution Sherlock, I really don’t think this thread could have done without your barely concealed xenophobia or total disregard for other poster’s sensebilities.
Has anyone else seen “Tears of the Sun”? I’m genuinely interested to know what they thought… Is it possible that there exists, out there, an individual who could possibly have enjoyed this film?
EDIT: Oops, poor grammar.

Just remembered which film “Tears of the Sun” reminded me of, it was “Behind Enemy Lines”. They may as well be one and the same for the quality of story-line, acting, research, consistency, moral etc etc.
