Nice selection Rob :), was the start of Finnair services into EDI?
Yeah, first one, last time I seen Finnair at Edinburgh it was a DC-9 !!
10 out 10 for thos shots, well done!!
Very nice, is that Trident in the background of the Dan Air pic taking off?!
Probably back tracking for take -off
Just awesome, wish i’d have lived in that era.
Thats really made me feel old 😮
Wait till i start scanning all the Black and white negs I have
Excellent shots, do you know what G-CELR was operating? PMI? What time did you take the shot?
Yep, G-CDKD always seems to end up like that! It was the same when it was in the SAS hybrid scheme, and it was only repainted a few months ago at the most!
“LR” was taken at 3.20, dunno where it was coming from
Robert
Thanks chums!!!
comments are much appreciated !
Here’s some I took last year from the Viewing deck

you do miss movements but IMO the stuff you do see makes up for it, hence I’m going for a day trip in August again!!
Very nice, as always. I take it you didn’t catch the MD that is operating the HEL flights for Sterling today?
I was working through Glasgow this morning, only stopped off for a wee while, too cold for my old bones so went home, didnt have a clue what else was due today, might try a longer visit next Sunday though
I could well be……… 😀
Thanks for the kind comments, chaps.
In answer to Robert’s question about parking a car, I’m not a driver but it looks like parking is already tight enought for the residents so it’d be pretty bad form to park up on the Avenue itself (IMHO, of course).
The car park at Hatton Cross Underground station is reasonably-priced and within easy walking distance.
Cheers!! I’ll have to get down sometime, last time at LHR I used the Spectators area!
dunno, cos this was the last time I was at Gatwick, would imagine its changed though 🙂 It was quite photographer friendly in’t the good old ays 😮
From the viewing area, I was passing through on the way to Majorca!!!
good pics 🙂
At Myrtle can you park a car?
Thanks RIP
Can I ask what is the best way to let them know if we decide to use the car park for photographing and aircraft as we don’t want to get on the wrong side of them?
I think there’s a Security desk beside the check-ins, if not just ask at the Information desk, personally i dont rate the top of the car park at all for photography. Its ok for spotting the stuff at the GAT.
Here you go – it doesnt get any better than this for a spotting guide!

Have fun!!! I would personally recommend A – here are some shots I got from there recently…
glad my wee map and guide are at last of some use 🙂
Very interesting, I’m off to Berlin for the day on Tuesday, but using SXF and not TXL. First time outside of the UK and Ireland (barring my US trip last week) for over a year so looking forward to it!
I’ve used SXF before, here’s a link to my website with some stuff on it
