I’ve actually been living in the real world for a good deal longer than most people on here, which is why I don’t just meekly accept this sort of thing as ” progress “.I grew up all right without the government worrying its pretty little head about what I was up to 24 hours a day.Oh,and it also managed not to squander my hard-earned taxes on puerile adverts telling me to give children smaller portions, use a hanky if I’ve got a cold, and not to eat my Christmas turkey if it’s still coughing up blood. And the Wagon Wheels WERE bigger.I’m now off to start reading the 3 books I’ve just bought about flying boats, which were around when this country still retained a few shreds of sanity .

I’ll spare you the whole 10 minute rant – it’s just that my Mum and Dad didn’t join up at thd age of 17 to fight for the right of some jobsworth to see how often I log on to the QVC website.Plus I definitely didn’t sign up to GoogleEarth photographing my garden gnomes for the world and his dog to gawp at .

It seems to me that painful conditions are too easily dismissed as being ” all in the mind “.My daughter wasn’t correctly diagnosed until a Maori doctor in Surfers’ Paradise of all places identified the condition in 2 minutes after her GP had fobbed us off for months. But we digress ….

I didnt actually mention health care in my post,I have had some health problems in the last 15 years and i think it is an absolute lottery who you are referred to in the UK,but my overriding impression of doctors is an almost complete lack of common sense and unwillingness to believe what they are told. With me they seemed to believe that I enjoyed visiting them and I became a ‘problem’ patient with a health anxiety disorder !!!
I now go to a specialist hospital in London but even they are just starting to think about causes that I was asking about over 10 years ago.Victorian attitudes
I bitterly regret not getting away from the ‘old boys network’ and paying to see somebody abroad 😡

    regards baz

My daughter has a lifelong painful condition and I couldn’t agree more about doctors not listening to you.

Don’t knock the old girl – she’s the same age as me and any woman who’s got this far without ever doing a hand’s turn of work in her life certainly has my admiration.
