But it’s nice to find a pm when you return and see that you’ve been missed, even after a short absence.I was quite touched when a dozy old type wondered where I’d gone last time I was on holiday.

He may not be posting recently because he’s not in the best of health.
Send a pm if you’re concerned.

Thanks for posting those pictures Simon. It must be difficult for everyone living under those conditions, thank goodmess you and your family were unhurt.
Re the aircraft shots,I well remember being in New Zealand in 2001 somewhere near the Coromandel when an RNZAF Hercules suddenly appeared out of low cloud. If I remember rightly it was painted in camouflage,a most impressive sight.
All the best to you,and to everyone affected by the earthquake.
Great surname, btw. My Mum was a Beck.

My mother taking to telling my father to go away, because she doesn’t need him to visit her.
And knowing that the chance of her saying the same thing to me is slightly less than the chance of Prince William joining the Brownies.

    That’s good news,well done him.
It took my daughter five tests, but at least she doesn’t mind using her car to drive me to places where she can spend my money.

Still can’t reach my friend in Lyttelton, though I’m not surprised, having seen photos of the destruction there on the New Zealand Herald website.
Does anyone know whether it will be possible to reconstruct the Cathedral ?
